Filson L. Cartwright, Sr.
Filson L. Cartwright, Sr. age 95 of Clearfield, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Colonial Courtyard, Clearfield, surrounded by his loving family.
Born August 3, 1930, in Morrisdale, he was the son of the late Roy and Christina (Summerville) Cartwright.
On August 14, 1952, he wed Catherine (Little) Cartwright who after 73 years of marriage survives in Clearfield.
Also surviving are their children, Filson Cartwright; Jerry (Lynn) Cartwright, Wes Cartwright, Dan (Judy) Cartwright, Tim (Sheila) Cartwright, Nanette Haller; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Linda Sanker, West Decatur.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James and Robert; his sisters, Joyce Tingle, Betty Brilla, Judy Dennis, Donna Kennedy, Shirley Cartwright and a son-in-law, Brian Haller.
Filson was a member of St. Severins Roman Catholic Church, Drifting. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict. Filson had been employed by River Hill Coal Company, the former Piper Aircraft, Lockheed Aircraft and retired from Fuller Company Machine Shop.
Filson enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping coaching and watching his kids play sports. He was an avid fan of Penn State, Steelers and the Pirates sports teams.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on July 18, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Severin Roman Catholic Church, Drifting with Father Johnathan Schmolt officiating.
He will be laid to rest in St. Severin Roman Catholic Cemetery, Drifting, PA.
