Congratulations to the approximately 120 top notch orthopedic surgeons who practice at Morristown Medical Center! It feels fantastic to see you all continue to climb the ranks in US News and World Report rising from falling off the top 50 list in approx 2017/2018 and being the #2 program in NJ to becoming the #1 orthopedic program in NJ and the #16 program for two consecutive years and now climbing the ranks further to #13. Magnificent and well deserved and aligns with all your exceptional talents, skills and personalized patient centric approaches. It goes without saying that you all are also well supoortwd by outstanding magnet level nurses and other very important healthcare team members. I am very grateful to have led this department from 2018-2025 and am incredibly fulfilled to see you continue to excel. By next year you are all sure to be top 10 in the country.

In 2018, I took the job as chairman of orthopedics at Morristown Medical Center. At that time, the orthopedics department was considered a very good community program that had fallen off the top 50 list for US News and had been ranked the #2 orthopedic program in NJ for many years.

With the close collaboration and partnership of the orthopedic surgeons in the department, we committed to several endeavors to drive reputation, quality, safety and volume of orthopedic surgeries.

Congratulations to the amazing orthopedic surgeons at Morristown Medical Center!

As former Chair of this outstanding department of appproximately 120 orthopedic surgeons, I am proud to see them maintain their national ranking by US News and World Report as the #16 orthopedic program in the United States and #1 program in NJ.

When I became Chair in 2018 the orthopedics department had fallen off the top 50 list in the country. It was known as a busy community program. I am honored to have had the opportunity to lead this group of esteemed orthopedic surgeons to skyrocket to the #16 position in the country over my first 4-5 years as chair while also transforming the department into a nationally acclaimed teaching program with a brand new residency.

The escalation in rankings was accelerated by continuously improving quality, safety, educational and reputational endeavors/reputation along with growth in surgical volume. On average there was approximately 9% per year in growth of orthopedic surgical volume (approx 9,000 cases per year to approx 12,500) while continuously driving quality improvements.

Many others also deserve recognition such as the outstanding magnet orthopedic and surgical nurses, physical and occupational therapists and the multitude of advanced practitioners and other healthcare team members who all take outstanding care of the orthopedic patients.

Once again congratulations on the 3rd year of national rankings as the #16 orthopedic program in the U.S. and #1 in NJ!
