Today our department got called out for the first field fire (and hopefully last) of the year! With quick work from our depart and some of our local farmers we were able to save the cornfield! I love when a village pulls together to help each other out! Thank you all!

🚧 Road Improvements Begin Tomorrow

We apologize for the late notice. We are working hard to improve the town.

We will be out this week repairing several intersections that need attention. Expect temporary closures and barricades around active work areas.

You’ll also see trucks, tractors, and machinery moving throughout town. Please stay mindful, keep a safe distance, and detour yourself around work zones whenever possible. In a small town like ours, your caution makes a big difference.

We appreciate everyone staying aware and helping keep our workers safe as we continue improving the roads we all rely on.

🚨 EXCITING NEWS FOR MIDLAND FIRE AND OUR REGIONAL PARTNERS!!! 🚨

We are thrilled to announce that the Midland Fire Protection District, along with our neighboring regional departments of Edinburg, Mount Auburn, and Moweaqua, has been awarded an Assistance to Firefighters Grant in the amount of $638,400!!

This grant will bring vital, life-saving equipment to our communities including brand new self-contained breathing apparatus(SCBA) and a state-of-the-art SCBA fill station. This upgraded equipment ensures our firefighters can operate in the most hazardous conditions, keeping our crews safe and ready to respond.

It all comes down to safety! Our airpacks are designed to last 15 years and must be replaced. High pressure cylinders experience extreme heat, and the harnesses materials fatigue, hoses dry rot and o-rings fail putting our firefighters in dangerous situations. The new equipment will meet the most current standards and offer our crews the latest in technology designed to keep us safe. All departments involved with this grant are at or well past the lifespan of their SCBA.

This collaboration makes us stronger as a county and the grant is a massive win for the departments involved. We are incredibly proud of the teamwork that went into making this happen!

A huge thank you to First Due Consulting for their assistance in securing the grant!

Our gear is our lifeline, and keeping it updated means we can keep protecting our communities the best we can!
