SLS has been busy this Mental Health Month!

They recently held a soda bar fundraiser with all proceeds supporting the Trent Stewart Memorial. Additionally, they delivered May Day baskets, held a Donuts and Discussion, raised awareness at the high school during the lunch hour, and provided staff with a Relaxation Room for a brain break.

Thanks for reminding us all that mental health matters and so do we. We’re lucky to have you, SLS. Thank you for being a great resource for our community…we appreciate you! 💚

You may have heard the quote, “When life gives you more than you need, build a longer table…not a higher fence.” And Ron Schafer has done just that.

Loyal, compassionate, and always looking out for those around him. That’s Ron.

Ron started the Open Table Project at his local church where the goal was simple: good food, real conversations, and a stronger sense of community. The Open Table is a monthly dinner where anyone is welcome to come and enjoy a free, home-cooked meal and visit with those around them. Ron shared his hope was that the opportunity would lead to people checking in on each other and staying connected.

The Open Table committee’s service goes beyond the church walls and encourages those who can’t get out to place their order over the phone. “We also deliver meals to those who are shut-in and check on them to see how they are doing,” said Ron.

Ron is no stranger in the kitchen. From baking cakes to smoking meat, he truly does it all (plus throw in being the best PA-C at RCH). Ron shared, “I’m not sure where the [cooking] passion came from. I just like cooking for large crowds and enjoy meeting the different people and working with others.”

This monthly gathering has grown to serving nearly 200 people. The idea came from a desire to serve others in need and making connections with those in our community. Ron’s uncle was doing a similar project in Oregon and suggested that something of the same sort would be beneficial for Ringgold County.

“If you ever get the opportunity to help others, take it. You would never know the impact you can make in someone’s life,” stated Ron.

Ron’s compassion and kindness is something we truly admire, and we are so proud to have him on our team. Thank you for all you do, Ron, for RCH and our community!

Responding to over 450 calls in 2025, our EMS crew has shown dedication time and again. 🚨 The team is full of selfless and compassionate individuals, and we see their dedication daily. We are truly grateful for them and their commitment to ensuring safety and well-being for our community.

We had so much fun at our Family Safety Night at RCH yesterday! From firetrucks and a bike rodeo to education stations and a special helicopter appearance, it was a great opportunity to connect with and celebrate the emergency service teams our community relies on every day.

Special thank you to SRO Deputy Arends, SRO Kloster, Ringgold Co. Sheriff's Dept, Mt. Ayr Fire, Darla Dolecheck, and MercyOne’s air crew for spending the evening with us!
