THIS WEEK, Dr. Stephanie Hernandez, an emergency physician, reports:

Injuries
Orthopedic and soft tissue injuries continue to be treated in high volume, with a significant portion of injuries resulting from incidents on the water while boating.

Asthma
Allergens and humid conditions have caused some asthma sufferers to experience minor breathing complications.

Bee stings
A noticeable number of patients have sought care for adverse reactions to bee or other insect stings.

Kudos to Gabriela, a member of our Physical Therapy team:

I wanted to contact you to tell you how wonderful Gabriela (Physical Therapy) has been for me as a physical therapist. When I first came to Gabriela, I was completely dependent on a device to get around, had become incontinent, and was in a very dark place - depressed, weak, and in great fear that I could not improve my mobility and independence in a meaningful way.

Gabriela has been a godsend to me.

She is knowledgeable, motivates me, and has been emotionally supportive of me from day one. I have made tremendous progress under her guidance, and I'm confident I never could have achieved this level of recovery without her support and expertise. Pelvic floor therapy was particularly challenging at first, since the anatomy and physiology were difficult to visualize-unlike my spinal Dr's software which allowed him to rotate, cross-section, and view my spine from every angle to clearly understand what was happening. I mentioned to Gabriela that a similar visual tool would be incredibly helpful for understanding how the pelvic floor muscles work and interact. Despite limitations, Gabriela's skill and dedication made the difference. I can't say enough about her, and I am so grateful she has been my therapist.
