A big thank you to for this pack of 🍼bottles🍼 with specialty valve(you can't buy the valve separate)! The specialty valve is small blue disk that fits in the bottle making it much easier for some babies to drink.
Why I like Dr. Brown's bottles as a feeding therapist:
🍼Baby can get a deep latch (the whole ni**le goes into the mouth) and is less likely to use mouth movements that we don't want (compensations)
🍼Dr. Brown's ni**les have the least amount of variation in how fast the liquid comes (flow) out between ni**les of the same flow compared to other ni**les tested.
🍼These bottles tend to work well for babies with reflux- they decrease burping, spitting up and gas.
🍼I use these bottles to give me insight on what struggles a baby is having with bottle drinking and why.
Things families report not liking about these bottles:
🍼They can leak if the top is on too tight or not tight enough.
🍼There are a lot of pieces to wash.
🍼You can take the green part out, but sometimes the bottle doesn't work as well
💙Bottles aren't a one size fits all so it is important to find what works best for your child. ou want to consider:
- How long does it take your baby to finish a bottle? (should take < 30 min)
- Is baby calm or falling asleep when drinking? (We want calm and alert)
- Does your baby fight the bottle? (We don't want fighting, distress, turning away, etc.)
- Is baby gassy or spitting up after drinking? (This can be an indication that the bottle being used isn't the right one and/or that there are other things going on that you may want to discuss with your baby's pediatrician)
