🐢💚 My son’s favorite character in On the Other Side of the Fence is the turtle. 💚🐢

One of my favorite lessons in the book comes from him:

“Every life has hard things. Even the ones that look perfect from far away.”

As a therapist, I see how often our minds convince us that happiness exists somewhere else—another place, another circumstance, another life. We imagine that if we could just get to the other side of the fence, things would finally be easier.

But the truth is that every person has struggles we cannot see. Every family has challenges. Every path comes with difficult moments.

Sometimes our minds escape because we don’t want to face the hard things where we are. Yet wherever we go, life comes with us. The hard things may look different, but they are still there.

My hope for this book is to help children—and adults—learn gratitude, stay present, and remember that what looks perfect from a distance is rarely the whole story.

After months of writing, editing, revising, doubting myself, pushing through challenges, and believing in a dream, I’m so excited to share that my first children’s book, On the Other Side of the Fence, is officially available on Amazon.

As a therapist, I often see how easy it is for both children and adults to fall into fantasy thinking—believing everyone else has it better, that happiness exists somewhere else, or that life would be easier if we had what someone else has.

Through Benny Bunny’s journey, this story gently reminds children that what we see from the outside is rarely the whole picture. Every person has struggles, disappointments, hard days, and challenges—even when life looks perfect from the other side of the fence.

My hope is that this book helps children build gratitude, develop perspective, appreciate their own unique journey, and recognize the value in the life they already have.

This book is incredibly close to my heart, and seeing it become a reality is something I don’t think I’ll ever fully have words for. Thank you to everyone who encouraged me, supported me, and believed in me along the way.
