Was able to sit down with other local pharmacy owners yesterday. We discussed the current climate of community pharmacy and the importance Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) reform.
PBMs are the “middlemen” in the pharmacy industry. They control patient copays, which pharmacy you can use, and pharmacy reimbursement. These large corporations are making billions each year by forcing people to use the pharmacies they own and/or mail order. At the same time they are responsible for the closure of 100’s of independent pharmacies.
Matthew Bierlein - State Representative is working hard at the state level to help community pharmacies survive.
