URGENT - 24 HOURS TO MEET DEADLINE
I have been made aware of an important legal effort in Oregon to establish a precedent requiring all state Medicaid programs to follow the Affordable Care Act's birth center and midwifery provisions.
How might this affect midwives in Texas?
Because the Affordable Care Act applies nationwide, the Oregon Supreme Court's interpretation could influence how Medicaid programs across the country understand and implement these federal requirements, affecting meaningful access to community-based maternity care for countless families. This also includes meaningful payment to providers for professional and facility fees.
Your donation will help fund the legal work needed to support this case.
There are only 24 hours to raise the $10,000 needed for legal fees to present the case to the Oregon State Supreme Court. Hermine Hayes-Klein will be the legal counsel if the case proceeds.
I am in support of this legal push and strongly encourage all Texas midwives (and their clients!) to donate to this fund.
