Ahead of World Blood Donor Day, we're encouraging everyone to donate blood as every drop counts and can save lives. Demand is especially high for O-negative blood. Platelets and other blood products are also needed and are essential for heart surgery patients, dialysis patients, and premature newborns. Since donated blood expires around 41 days, the need for donors never stops, so consider making a difference today!

During National Cancer Survivors Month, we celebrate survivors like Darline Fountain, whose strength, determination, and positive spirit helped carry her through her cancer journey.

What began as a routine mammogram led to an unexpected diagnosis. Facing uncertainty, Darline turned to CancerCARE, where she found more than treatment; she found a connected team dedicated to supporting her every step of the way. Through coordinated support and compassionate guidance, Darline was able to focus on what mattered most: her health and recovery.

Stories like Darline's remind us why personalized support matters. From screening through survivorship, we're committed to helping patients navigate their journey with excellence and compassion.

Regular screenings save lives. Make your health a priority and schedule your recommended cancer screenings today:

In honor of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we are celebrating saints like Saint Paul Miki, the Patron Saint of Japan and one of the first native Japanese Christians whose faith endured even in the face of persecution.

As a Jesuit seminarian and gifted preacher, Paul Miki boldly shared the Gospel at a time when Christianity was outlawed in Japan. In 1597, he and 25 companions were arrested and crucified for their faith. From the cross, Paul continued to preach, stating just before his death “After Christ’s example, I forgive my persecutors. I do not hate them. I ask God to have pity on all, and I hope my blood will fall on my fellow men as a fruitful rain.” His courage and unwavering trust in God helped sustain the Catholic faith in Japan for generations. St. Paul Miki reminds us that even in the most difficult moments, faith, mercy and hope can leave a lasting impact.

During Stroke Awareness Month, our neurology team is encouraging our community to take simple but important steps to help reduce stroke risk and recognize warning signs early.

Saud Khan, MD, Khalid Malik, MD, and Shania McBride, FNP, remind patients that prevention and early intervention can make all the difference. Stroke symptoms can include sudden numbness, confusion, trouble speaking, dizziness, or a severe headache. When symptoms
appear, every second matters.

If you have concerns about your neurological health or stroke risk, don’t wait to speak with a provider. Learn more about our stroke care services this at https://christus.io/stroke-care
