During National Physical Therapy Month, we’re celebrating the physical therapists and physical therapist assistants at AMG Specialty Hospital – Charleston.

For patients recovering from serious illness or a prolonged hospital stay, progress can mean sitting at the edge of the bed, standing again, or taking those first steps. Behind each milestone are effort, encouragement, and a team working toward what matters to that patient.

Our physical therapy team works alongside nursing, respiratory therapy, and physicians to help patients build strength, improve mobility, and regain confidence while continuing to receive complex medical care.

Thank you to our PTs and PTAs for your patience, skill, and dedication—and for recognizing the hard work behind every step.

A private room. Space for loved ones. Specialized care to support recovery.

At AMG Specialty Hospital–Charleston, all of our patient rooms are private, with a window, television, bathroom, storage for personal belongings, and visitor seating—including a recliner.

We welcome visitors from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and a loved one may stay overnight. We know how much it can mean to have someone familiar by your side during a hospital stay.

For patients who need closer monitoring and more complex care, our high observation unit has its own nurses’ station, closer nursing observation, and continuous cardiac monitoring. This unit supports patients receiving ventilator care, those working toward coming off a ventilator, and other patients with higher medical needs.

Whether you’re recovering here or visiting someone you love, we want you to feel comfortable, supported, and connected.

When a patient is preparing to come to AMG Specialty Hospital–Charleston, there’s a lot happening at once. Families have questions, the referring hospital is arranging the transition, and our team needs information to prepare for the patient’s arrival. Kisha helps keep those pieces connected.

For Kisha, the relationships she builds through that work are what matter most:

“As an Admissions Coordinator, I help guide patients and families through the admissions process by coordinating referrals, verifying information, and ensuring a smooth experience. What I enjoy most is helping others, building relationships, and making a positive impact during an important time in their healthcare journey.”

👨‍⚕️ Physician Spotlight: Adam Silbiger, MD
Medical Director | AMG Specialty Hospital – Charleston

Dr. Adam Silbiger is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician with more than 17 years of experience caring for medically complex patients and leading physicians across acute and post-acute healthcare settings.

After completing his Internal Medicine residency at the University of South Carolina in 2009, he practiced as a hospitalist in the Charleston area, building extensive experience in acute care, long-term acute care, rehabilitation, telemedicine, and palliative medicine. His leadership background includes serving as both Medical Director and Chief of Staff.

As our Medical Director, Dr. Silbiger provides physician leadership and clinical oversight for patients with complex and prolonged illnesses. He works closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing, respiratory therapy, rehabilitation, and case management to promote patient safety, clinical excellence, effective communication, and appropriate transitions of care.

His leadership philosophy emphasizes physician accountability, interdisciplinary collaboration, and evidence-based decisions centered on the patient. He is particularly committed to helping patients navigate complex hospitalizations while balancing medical treatment, rehabilitation potential, quality of life, and each individual’s goals of care.

We’re proud to recognize Dr. Silbiger’s leadership and commitment to our patients, families, and interdisciplinary team.
