Hiking for Hope

Hiking for Hope Bringing awareness to those struggling with addiction, partnering up with and raising money for Shat Hello all! Why? These are our stories to be shared.

Alex and myself will be setting off March 30th, to attempt to thru hike the Pacific Crest Trail. Because we hope in doing so to shed much needed light onto drug addiction and to encourage those battling with it to seek the help they need and deserve. We have both seen the affects of addiction on those who surround us. From hearing about our peers using, to seeing it destroy the ones we are close t

o and love...

Its taken us quite a while to understand why our friends and family that begun using treated us the way they did. Why they stole from us and why they lied blatantly to our faces. Why they hid their problems for so long and pushed away the very people who wanted to help them the most. Drug users have a way of manipulating and burning bridges in a way that can not be truly appreciated until experienced first hand. Almost everyone knows of someone who deals with drug addiction. The family member who was given too excessive a prescription of percocet for their back problems. The friend who decided stealing was the easiest way to cop a fix. The schoolmate who managed the pain of a lost loved one in the wrong ways. The guy who got a little too curious and messed around with the wrong type of high. The girl who got too lonely and messed around with the wrong type of guy. This summer, we will be collaborating with one of the biggest national nonprofit organization in the drug addiction game: Shatterproof. Shatterproof is an incredible organization that works to prevent, treat and make a lasting change in recovery for those who are battling addiction. Shatterproof advocates for common sense changes in legislation and urges our lawmakers to treat addiction as the disease that it is. We have decided to fund raise for Shatterproof by setting off to complete a thru-hike of one of the most iconic trails in the lower United States. This incredible journey will take us over 2,500 miles from the hot and arid Mexican border to the high alpine Canadian border along the one and only Pacific Crest Trail (yes, the same one Cheryl Strayed did in the book Wild.) We believe hiking is such a natural high, and urge people to get outside in nature and be thankful for your health, your body, and this world we are in. If you would like to help support this cause, please head on over to our fundraiser page to donate! We wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for being apart of Hiking for Hope!!

Over the past 5 months we were not only able to hike from Mexico to Canada, but bring awareness to a problem that sits heavy on our hearts, Opioid addiction. Together, we raised a total of $3,100 for national drug addiction group Shatterproof!

Addiction is a tricky subject and we wanted this to be a place where we could open up and talk about the epidemic going on in America, to bring our demons into the light and fight the negative stigmas associated with drug dependency. We know all too well how it feels to have someone you love destroy their life over drugs... and how much it hurts.

Over the last six months, we have heard your stories and experiences and it is so crazy to hear how many people this effects.
We send our love to you all, and we pray for healing and treatment for all who are struggling with addiction.

It's not too late to change your life around. Get help. Not just for your friends and family who love you, but most importantly, yourself.

One last big great amazing push... we are so close. This journey feels like a dream, and I never want to wake up. The ups, the downs, the good, the bad, and of course the ugly. Blood, sweat and tears have all been put into this hike.

Here's to what may be our last video, depending on our cell service from here on out. Big shout out to all who have helped make this dream a reality, to those who have spoken words of wisdom and encouragement to us, to those who have helped put our cause on the map and donated to Shatterproof, and those that keep wandering into our thoughts and dreams while we walk, our friends, our family, and those battling addition struggling to find their own path.

We love you all.

Here's a bit of an update, WERE IN OREGON!
Due to our time crunch we needed to jump southern Oregon, and it's been quite an adventure! The very last bit of the video cuts off, but we are loving Oregon and so stoked to hike through our home state, WA 💖

Another 300 miles, another video! Wow has time passed! This video catches us scrambling back from a secret lake in northern California's Russian Wilderness, right after getting charged by a 400 lb mother black bear and her two cubs... the trail is certainly getting interesting! Very stoked for the next section, for the next state, for the next adventures, and another video coming at y'all, sooner than later!

When the climb gets tough, the weather gets bad, decisions break down, thoughts of quitting drift through my head. It's not until I can see the top that I remember why I'm out here...

Hiking for Hope is a reminder to everyone out there who struggles with addiction, all that rain sure can make a pretty rainbow. Never give up on a rainy day.

Alright guys! Here's a little update on Alex 💖
He is around mile 780 and has already seen and done so much in the Sierra mountains.
He has been in the snow, passed over passes, and dangerous rivers, and even climbed to the top of the highest mountain in the continental U.S., Mount Whitney!!
He is on his way to Mammoth Lakes and is going to meet me after that.
The Sierra has proven to be impassable after Mammoth and he doesn't want to risk his life out there (thank god).
He's got a strong attitude towards making it through safely!
Continue sending him good vibes while he's out there!!
I will be flying out to meet him in about 2 weeks and we will rejoin the trail where we think seems fit.
Keep sharing! And keep donating! We are FAR from being done.
Thank you for all your support 😁
