The semicolon is more than just a grammatical tool, it's a symbol of hope. A semicolon joins together two independent clauses to continue a thought in writing, and so a semicolon means it's not the end of something, but the continuance of something greater.

For those and their loved ones who are affected by su***de, a semicolon means there is hope for a life after suicidal ideation and that there is a light at the end of a long, dark tunnel.

September is National Su***de Prevention Month, and we at the Montgomery County Health Department will be sharing information all month long to shine a light on a very dark subject that is often overlooked. We see you, and we want you to know you never have to struggle in silence. We hold out our semicolons to you as a symbol of continuance and perseverance.

If you struggle with thoughts of su***de, or you or a loved one are experiencing a mental health crisis, you can call or text 988 just as you would call 911 for a different emergency.

✨ What’s YOUR recovery celebration? ✨

Recovery looks different for everyone. Maybe it’s getting your family back, rebuilding trust, celebrating a sober birthday, finding yourself again, starting a new job, or simply waking up grateful for another day. 💜

This National Recovery Month, let’s celebrate the milestones—big and small.

September is a month to remember: recovery and su***de prevention go hand in hand. 💜🩵

Recovery reminds us that healing is possible, hope can return, and no one should have to face their darkest moments alone.

Su***de prevention starts with connection—checking in, listening without judgment, and helping someone find support.

You never know how much one conversation, one person, or one moment of hope can mean.

💜 Talk. Listen. Connect. Support. Recover. Hope is worth fighting for.

💜 August 31- International Overdose Awareness Day 💜

🚨 THE FACTS. THE REALITY. THE HOPE.❤️

Overdose continues to impact families and communities across the Gateway Region. 2025 data reminds us that behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a story.

These numbers aren’t meant to create fear—they’re meant to create awareness, action, and hope.

💊 Carry naloxone. It can reverse an opioid overdose and save a life.

👀 Know the signs. Slow or stopped breathing, unresponsiveness, and blue/gray lips or fingertips can indicate an overdose.

🗣️ Talk openly about substance use. Compassion and connection can be powerful.

🤝 Know that recovery is possible. Treatment, counseling, peer support, and medications for opioid use disorder can make a difference.

At Gateway Recovery Clinic, we believe people deserve care without judgment and support that meets them where they are.

❤️ You are not alone. Help is here.

🧠 TRUTHFUL TUESDAY 🧠

Truth: Addiction is not a lack of willpower. ❤️

Substance use disorder is a complex health condition that can affect the brain, body, relationships, and everyday life. Recovery isn’t about simply “trying harder.” It’s about having the right support, treatment, tools, and time.

✨ Asking for help is strength.
✨ Medication can be part of recovery.
✨ Counseling can make a difference.
✨ Relapse doesn’t erase progress.
✨ Recovery looks different for everyone.

Let’s replace judgment with understanding and stigma with support. 💙
