From Frazzled to Flourishing: Barefoot Edition
If your mornings feel like youâre already behind before youâve even had coffee, this one is for you.
Grounding (aka earthing, aka âwhy am I suddenly standing in the yard barefoot?â đ) is simply placing your bare feet on natural ground like grass, soil, or rock.
Thatâs it. No gadgets. No subscription. No complicated routine to abandon after three days. đĽł
Research is still being done, but early studies have explored links between grounding and reduced inflammation markers, improved stress regulation, and better sleep quality. The idea is that direct contact with the Earth may help support the bodyâs electrical and nervous system balance.
Now hereâs the easy partâthis stacks perfectly with habits youâre hopefully already trying to build:
- Step outside for morning sunlight.
- Take off your shoes and stand or walk barefoot.
-Sip your coffee like youâre in a peaceful retreat instead of standing your yard.
- Read your Bible, journal, or just enjoy not being asked for anything for 5 minutes
No perfection required. Even 3â10 minutes counts.
From a massage therapy perspective, anything that helps downshift the nervous system in the morning can reduce overall tension patterns throughout the day. Your body holds onto stress less tightly when it isnât starting the day in âIâm being chased by a tigerâ mode.
Simple. Free. Slightly awkward if your neighbors are watching, but worth it.
If you have implemented the morning sunlight tip from last time and notice a difference, let me know in the comments. đŤśđť
