Today is the first day of the "Dog Days of Summer," and we’re celebrating the four-legged friends who bring compassion and PAWS-itivity to our patients everyday! 🐶✨

Last week, our Volunteer Manager, Clinical Liaison, and one of our therapy dog teams brought some extra joy to a patient visit at a local facility. Our certified therapy dogs (plus horse and llama) teams bring comfort, reduce anxiety, and lift the spirits of our patients wherever the call home.

Compassion and dignity comes in many forms, but the soft nose and a wagging tail of a therapy dog is one of our favorites.

🤠Thank you to everyone who joined us last Thursday for our Nashville-themed Passport event! We had a blast bringing a little taste of Tennessee to our office in Mount Vernon. ✨

A big thank you to therapeutic musician Linda Allen, who truly took us "home" with her musical performance—even our surprise visitor, "Dolly Parton" (aka our Clinical Liaison, Katie McDougall), was impressed! 🎸

Linda is part of our Integrative Services team, providing our patients and their loved ones with an extra layer of comfort and support alongside traditional hospice care. These specialized services are fully funded thanks to the generous donors of the Hospice of the Northwest Foundation.

June is CPR Awareness Month—a time bring attention to importance of understanding CPR and making thoughtful choices about Advance Care Planning. While CPR can save lives, it may not be the right choice for everyone. 💛

Discussing your wishes surrounding CPR with your provider and loved one is an important discussion to have. No matter what you choose, Hospice of the Northwest will honor your goals, values, and healthcare choices.

It’s Aromatherapy Awareness Week!

Did you know that aromatherapy uses essential oils derived from plants to ease symptoms and support overall well-being? For many patients navigating a life-limiting illness, it offers a natural, effective alternative for symptom management.

Inhaled or applied to the skin, aromatherapy can help:
🌱 Increase comfort and relaxation
🌱 Reduce nausea and anxiety
🌱 Provide relief from the side-effects of medication

Aromatherapy and other integrative therapies are available to Hospice of the Northwest patients at no charge thanks to the generous community donors who support the Hospice of the Northwest Foundation. 🤍
