Kentucky Derby Watch Party at Pine Hill
What a fantastic evening at Pine Hill Independent Living as residents gathered for a festive Kentucky Derby Watch Party!
The excitement started earlier in the week when many of our ladies attended a special workshop to create their own beautiful fascinators—and they truly stole the show with their creativity and style!
Our incredible catering team, Amy and Arya, along with our host for the evening, Sales Director Dave Antle (who kept the mint juleps flowing), treated everyone to a delicious spread. Residents enjoyed classic Brown Derby sandwiches, chicken and waffle sliders, and a variety of special treats and desserts that made the night feel extra celebratory.
The fun didn’t stop there—a photo booth captured so many wonderful moments, filled with laughter, smiles, and Derby-day flair!
It was an evening full of great food, great company, and great memories. Events like these are what make life at Pine Hill so special!

Exploring the State Parks of Ohio
Pine Hill Independent Senior Living was delighted to host a recent seminar on Exploring the State Parks of Ohio right here on the campus of The Ohio Eastern Star Home!
A special thank you to Ohio Department of Natural Resources Naturalist Hanna Humphrey—a graduating senior at Mount Vernon Nazarene University—who did a fantastic job showcasing the unique beauty and features of Mohican State Park and Hocking Hills State Park. She also highlighted hidden gems and special experiences found in parks across our great state.
And did you know? Ohio has been ranked #1 in the nation for its state parks!
Our guests were attentive, curious, and fully engaged, especially during the Q&A session, where thoughtful questions and shared experiences created a lively and enjoyable discussion. One lucky guest even took home a fun door prize!
We’re excited to see many of our attendees take what they learned and head out to enjoy Ohio’s incredible natural spaces this summer. Whether it’s hiking scenic trails, discovering waterfalls, or simply soaking in the beauty of the outdoors, adventure awaits!

Pine Hill Independent Living, located on the campus of The Ohio Eastern Star Home, will host an engaging and informative seminar, Exploring the State Parks of Ohio, on Thursday, April 23 at 2:00 PM.
Led by a representative from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), this presentation will introduce attendees to the wide variety of outdoor experiences available throughout Ohio’s state park system. From scenic hiking trails and peaceful fishing spots to birdwatching, boating, and seasonal events, participants will gain a deeper appreciation for the natural beauty and recreational opportunities found right here in Ohio.
This seminar offers a wonderful opportunity for residents and community members alike to discover new ways to enjoy the outdoors, connect with nature, and engage in purposeful activities.

In-A-Jam to Perform Free Community Concert at Ohio Eastern Star Home
The Ohio Eastern Star Home invites residents, families, and the greater community to enjoy a lively afternoon of music with a free concert by In-A-Jam on Tuesday, December 23rd at 2:00 p.m. The performance will take place in the Community Room at the Ohio Eastern Star Home.
In-A-Jam, an eclectic acoustic/electric trio from Delaware, Ohio, features the musical talents of Ken Schwartz, Annette Schwartz, and Rolf Remlinger. Known for their engaging performances and wide-ranging repertoire, the group performs music spanning from the 1950s to today, offering a well-loved mix of rock, country, folk, and pop favorites and some seasonal tunes mixed in.
The concert is free and open to the public, making it a wonderful opportunity for community members of all ages to come together and enjoy live music in a welcoming setting.
