Thinking about my Dad....
Rock and roll on the radio
Kids, bikes and surfboards piled in the truck bed
No matter how hard he worked that day
A pay phone call home always brought him my way
A man of big stature who had few words to say.
His love was in doing.....
And I miss him and his ways.

Some of life's sweetest memories are tied to the men who guided us, encouraged us, made us laugh, and helped shape who we are today. Whether it's a father, grandfather, husband, brother, mentor, or dear friend, their influence remains part of our story.
This Father's Day, we invite you to gather with us as we celebrate and honor the special men in our lives, both present in our hearts and by our side.
Please join us as we share pie, refreshments, stories, laughter, and memories with residents, families and friends.
We'd be honored to host you.

With tender hearts, we all spent time creating Valentine’s cards for our sweethearts.

We gathered together with colorful markers, heart stickers, and sharing our creative ideas as we worked. Each card became a small and simple expression of love, decorated with bright colors and carefully placed hearts.

It was a sweet and meaningful time for us, celebrating the love we carry in our hearts and the special people who mean so much to us.

To follow up on our Black History Month post, our Activities Director, Kim, had originally planned for the group to watch a documentary about Martin Luther King Jr.. But when she asked the residents what sounded most fun, they quickly voted for bingo!

So, Kim got creative. She put together a special bingo game featuring both historical and present-day Black heroes. As she read meaningful and inspiring statements about each person, residents listened closely and even collaborated with each other to find out if they had them on their cards. Then, of course, they got to grab their dauber and mark the spot!

There was laughter, a little friendly competition, and some learning along the way. We discovered new facts about well-known leaders and even learned about heroes we hadn’t heard of before. It was a wonderful way to celebrate, connect, and honor Black History Month together.

During our recreational walk yesterday, Kim, our Activities Director, asked the group how we should celebrate Black History Month. One resident became very animated and confidently suggested that we focus on Martin Luther King Jr. When Kim asked why, he replied, “You need to look him up—he died too soon, and we need to learn his ways.”

I just want to pause and recognize how moving that moment was. To hear such clear, heartfelt admiration expressed so eloquently was powerful. He’s right—Dr. King did die too soon, and his words, his courage, and his example are still lessons we need to keep learning.

Following that conversation, our activities planning group chose to honor his legacy by watching a documentary and spending time together discussing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life, work, and lasting impact. It felt like a meaningful and fitting way to learn from his example and reflect on the values he stood for.
