Not every classroom has surgical lights, orthopedic instruments, and hands-on experience in the OR.

We recently had the opportunity to give our intern a behind-the-scenes look at orthopedic surgery through a hands-on saw bones workshop experience put on by Stryker —learning, cutting, sawing, drilling, and exploring the tools and techniques used every day in orthopedics.

Investing in the next generation of healthcare professionals is something we’re passionate about at DOC, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to be part of the journey.

My experience at DOC has been excellent in every way. I was in need of revision surgery for a failed anatomical shoulder replacement. I could not find any orthopedic surgeons in my area who would treat me. Dr. Sams, however, performed a revise to reverse operation on my shoulder. I now have little to no pain and am gaining more function every week. Everyone at DOC has been amazing to work with. They fought tirelessly with my insurance company to get the surgery approved after multiple denials. The front office staff has been great to work with in scheduling appointments, the nursing staff has been extremely compassionate and understanding, the X-ray technicians are very skilled in getting perfect X-rays even though I’m not very coordinated. Dr. Sams’ assistants have been incredible in explaining each stage of my postoperative recovery. This has been a wonderful group to work with, and I am grateful for the help everyone has given me.

I can’t say enough about Decatur Orthopedic Center. They caught me at a bad time in my life after I broke my leg. Dr. Sams hit my into surgery the next day and did an awesome job. Their therapy department did a phenomenal job in rehabilitating my leg and had me up a walking in 8 weeks. Thank you Decatur Orthopedic Center and Dr. Sams and his staff for getting me up and moving 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Everything about this surgery my husband went through,was a good experience from the time we saw Dr.Sams and his post op visit. They made it easy for both of us. Home care was incredible, always available. His knee is healing so fast. Thank you Dr. Sam's and his staff!

I felt like an idiot I thought this knee shot was gonna be so painful ,but it was just like DR Chapman said completely painless 🫣👍🧐. If you need this shot get it took a split second.
