She had a sweet disposition and brought a kind and gentle presence to everyone she met.

Thelma Holman passed away on August 3, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on February 26, 1949, Thelma’s life was a testament to quiet strength, unwavering devotion to family, and steadfast kindness that touched all who knew her. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Glenn Holman Sr., who stood by her side through life’s joys and sorrows, her parents and ten brothers and sisters.

Thelma leaves behind her daughter, Rebecca Dowell and her husband, Bobby; her sons, Bobby Lewis and his wife Mary Jane and Albert Glenn Holman Jr. and his wife Angie; brothers Nick Williams Albert Williams; grandchildren, Nicky, Shandi, Victoria, Krissy, Sherman and Steven; several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Pia and Aunt Sandy.

In her earlier years, Thelma was a compassionate Registered Nurse. She had a sweet disposition and brought a kind and gentle presence to everyone she met. She cherished every moment spent with family and friends. Thelma enjoyed making beautiful crafts and handmade jewelry. A simple joy for Thelma, was watching hummingbirds gather in her yard and she loved her beloved dog, Roscoe.

Thelma Holman’s memory will live on as a guiding light of gentle strength and enduring love. She will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.

It was Thelma's wishes to be cremated and no formal services held.

Lucille Nye went to heaven on July 31, 2026. Born May 31, 1941, she was 85. She had a great fulfilling life, a caregiver for many years as a CNA at Mountain City Care Center and as a caregiver for family as well. Anyone that knew her loved her. She was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church. Lucille was known for her green thumb. She always carried a shovel in her car, and if she saw a flower or plant she liked, she would dig it up and take it home.

Of immediate family she is preceded in passing of her husband, Billy Nye and son, Danny Nye.

Those left to carry on her smile include her son, Gary Lee Nye and his wife and Lucille’s best friend, Kim; grandchildren, Nicole, Donnie, Dustin, Gary Edward and Travis; great grandchildren, Destiny, Zak, Jason, Jenifer, Aiden, Carson, Arlo, Grace, and Clementine; special nieces, Jeannie, Amy and Sandy.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice and Home Health and the Daugherty family for the excellent care they gave Lucille.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 pm 0n Tuesday, August 4, 2026, in Sunset Memorial Park with Mike McNut and Gary Nye to officiate.

Lois Elaine Westphal, age 68, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026 in Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was born May 22, 1958 to the late Gerald Barr and to Lucy Guinn Barr.

Lois was raised in Rising Sun, Maryland, and was a homemaker. Her love for flowers was a reflection of her gentle spirit, filling the world and the lives of those she loved with vibrant color and constant beauty. She was loved dearly by her family and friends and will be dearly missed.

Those left to cherish her memory include her mother, Lucy Guinn; daughter, Caitlin Westphal; son, Jonathan Westphal; sister, Gerri Lynn Barnes; brothers, Gerald Barr Jr. and Franklin Barr; three grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Mike and Karen and her caregivers, Linda Williams and Leona Barnett.

Duane Douglas Cooley, age 79, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026. He was born November 23, 1946 to the late Josephine Taylor.

Duane enjoyed spending his free time working with his hands and had a special appreciation for muscle cars and vintage automobiles. He took pride in admiring classic vehicles and enjoyed sharing his passion with friends. Duane was also an avid NASCAR fan, always cheering on his favorite drivers. He also enjoyed watching professional wrestling.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Maryette and special friends, Ted Gentry, Bruce McLean and Joe Bendell.

Per Duane's wishes there will be no formal services.

Carolyn Sue Eggers Wilson (Sue), age 84, passed away at home on July 23rd, 2026. Sue grew up in Trade, Tennessee. Sue was a seamstress at the Glove plant in Mountain City for many years. When she wasn’t caretaking for others, she loved to raise a garden and cook for people. Her favorite daily activity was talking on the phone to her sisters. She loved to watch birds come and go and was a big fan of wind chimes--you could find many on her back porch.

Sue is preceded in death by her mother and father, Taft and Rose Ella Eggers; the father of her children, Richard C.(Dick) Wilson, her sister, Shirley Jenkins, her sister Roma Jean Lipford and her husband, Blaine Lipford, her sister Wanda Lee Brown, her brother, Earl Eggers, all of Mountain City, TN and her brother Eddie Eggers, of Phoenix,Arizona, her brother-in-law Dallas Parker of Trade, TN.

Sue is survived by her daughter, Kelly Perkins of Elizabethton, TN and her son Thomas (Tommy) Wilson and wife, Dianne Wilson, of Mountain City, Tennessee., her granddaughters: Christina Perkins and spouse, Stacey Reece, of Knoxville, TN, Lindsey Lipford and spouse, Justin Lipford, of Mountain City, TN, Taylor Tester of Johnson City, TN, and Courtney Smith and spouse, Eli Smith, of New York; her great-grandchildren, Everett Perkins-Reece and Atlas Perkins-Reece, of Knoxville, and Hazel Smith of New York and special great grand-dog, Hercules of Johnson City, TN. Sue is survived by her sister, Phyllis Parker of Trade, TN., and her brother, Teddy Eggers and wife, Jan, of Bristol, TN, and sister in law, Liz Balsano Eggers of Phoenix, Arizona., her brother-in-law, Bill Brown, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by special friends: Vernice Powell and Pat and Larry Danner.

Honorary pallbearers are Larry Danner, Robbie and Jeff Brown., and Caroll and Terry Parker, Darren Jenkins, Petie Eggers, and Gary Cable.

Hux Lipford Funeral Home is serving the Wilson family on Saturday, August 1, 2026. Receiving of friends will be from 2:00 to 4:00pm with a memorial service starting at 4:00pm. Private family burial will be held at Wilson Family Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children’s hospital.

She loved spending time gardening and tending to her flowers, taking pride in the colorful blooms that surrounded her home.

Janet Darlene Ashley, age 93 of Bristol, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2026 in Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was born February 22, 1933 to the late Eli Hayes and Bonnie Thompson Hayes. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilton Ashley; two sons, Jimmy Ashley and Roger Ashley; brohers, Clarence Hayes, Earl Hayes and Edgar Hayes; sisters, Reba Long and Irene Haga and grandson, Christopher Ashley.

Janet was a kind and gentle soul who found great joy in the beauty of God's creation. She loved spending time gardening and tending to her flowers, taking pride in the colorful blooms that surrounded her home. Janet was gifted with her hands and enjoyed quilting and crocheting. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she was a faithful member of the Konnarock Seventh-day Adventist Church. She will be remembered for her loving heart, her quiet strength and the warmth she sahred with everyone who knew her.

Brian Keith Bock, 58, passed away on July 20, 2026, in Gate City, Virginia.

Born on February 2, 1968, Brian was the son of Robert and Ida Mae Bock. He lived a life filled with creativity, faith, music, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors.

Brian was a gifted graphic artist whose talent was evident in everything he created. While he enjoyed sketching and painting, he was especially known for his beautifully painted custom guitars, transforming each one into a unique work of art. His creativity left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Music was one of Brian’s greatest passions. He loved playing the guitar and singing, performing in a band during his younger years and later sharing his faith by singing worship songs at church. A devoted Christian, Brian found comfort and purpose in his relationship with God, and his faith remained an important part of his life.

When he wasn’t creating art or making music, Brian enjoyed spending time outdoors, playing with RC cars, and caring for his dogs, which brought him great happiness.

About a year ago, Brian was blessed to have Christina enter his life. She cared for him with deep love and devotion, always putting his needs before her own. She lovingly took him to all of his appointments and tended to his every need. Christina remained by his side and was with him until his last breath. The Bock siblings are deeply grateful for Christina’s dedication and the loving care she gave Brian.

Brian is survived by his daughter, Miranda Bock; his stepson, Dominic; and his siblings, Carolyn Dickinson, Robert Bock, Jennifer Black, Timothy Bock, Lisa Black and Joel Bock. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ida Mae Bock.

Brian will be remembered for his artistic talent, his love of music, his unwavering faith, and the kindness he shared with those around him. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched, the art he created, and the music he loved. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Beyond his closest friends and family, Brian touched the lives of all those that worked with him at Herbal Care. And although he will be greatly missed, his passion and talents remain an inspiration to each person who was lucky enough to know him.

There will be no formal services for Brian.

Teresa Regina Campbell, age 63, of Butler, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2026 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was born March 19, 1963 to the late Harold Gregg and Georgie Banner Gregg. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Daniel Wayne Campbell.

Teresa was a creative spirit who found joy in making jewelry, working on puzzles, and painting. Above all, she loved dogs and cherished every moment spent with her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, April Campbell of Butler, Tennessee; sister, Elaine Gregg of Wilkesboro, North Carolina; grandchildren, Kansas Johnson, Jacob Johnson, And Zackary Johnson; and great grandchildren, Owen, Madlin and Luca.

A graveside service for Teresa will be conducted at 2 pm on Sunday, July 26, 2026 in the Walnut Mountain Cemetery with Dewayne Calhoun officiating.

With heavy hearts--and more than a few smiles--we celebrate the life of Angie Garland Berardi Guy of Mountain City, Tennessee.

If you knew Angie, you knew she lived life her own way. She adored pigs, never turned down anything sweet, and somehow managed to make a Mexican casserole so memorably awful that it became part of the family's permanent history. It may not have won any cooking competitions, but it gave everyone something to laugh about for years,and that's a pretty special recipe in itself.

While pigs and desserts held a special place in her heart, nothing came close to the love she had for her family. Angie was a devoted mother to her daughter, Heather Berardi of Jacksboro, Tennessee, and her son, Chriss Berardi and his partner, Brianna, of Mountain City, Tennessee.

Being "Mawmaw" was the title she cherished most. Her grandchildren, Ariya Chea and Mazikeen Jade, were the lights of her life, and she was eagerly counting down the days until she could help welcome another precious grandbaby into the world. Though she won't be here to hold that sweet baby in her arms, there's no doubt they will grow up hearing countless stories about the Mawmaw who loved them long before they arrived.

Angie was born on August 15, 1968, in Elizabethton, Tennessee. She later made her home in Mountain City, where she graduated from Johnson County High School in 1986 before earning her bachelor's degree in psychology. She dedicated her career to serving others as a mental health case manager, caring for her clients with compassion, patience, and the kind of love that made them feel more like family than patients.

Waiting to welcome Angie to her eternal home with open arms were her parents, Ray and Margie (Short) Shatley and Dewey Garland; her sister, Judy Cooper; her brother, Jody Shatley; her grandparents; and many other beloved family members and dear friends.

Angie wasn't fancy, and she wouldn't have wanted anyone pretending she was. She'd probably roll her eyes if we made this too serious. She'd much rather be remembered for laughing until her stomach hurt, sneaking another dessert when no one was looking, collecting anything with a pig on it, and loving her family with every ounce of her heart.

She leaves behind a lifetime of stories, inside jokes, and memories that will keep her close to us forever. Every slice of cake, every pig figurine, and every failed attempt at Mexican casserole will remind us of the woman who made life a little more interesting—and a whole lot more fun.

We'll miss her more than words can say, but we'll honor her the way she'd probably want us to: by loving our families fiercely, laughing often, eating dessert first every now and then, and never pretending that casserole was edible.

Rest easy, Angie. Save us something sweet... and maybe let somebody else make dinner.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever making us smile.

We love you, Momma. Until we meet again.

Edith Ivalee Williams of Mountain City Tennessee passed away on July 15, 2026, at Johnson City Medical Center. She was born April 21, 1946, in Carter County Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Margaret and George Williams. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers Earl, Lewis "Harold", Robert "Bob", and Carl "Fuzz", 4 sisters Lena Jones, Margaret "Betty" Hopson, Rosie "Pearl" Hilton, and Sandra "Sandy" Brock, a great niece Addison Grace Shepherd, 2 nephews Greg Pritchard, James "Jimmy" Hopson and 1 niece Ruth Ann Hilton.

Ivy was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Mountain City. She worked for many years at Levis, Phoenix, and Burlington Mills. Ivy had many talents including sewing, crocheting, and spoiling her nieces, nephews, as well as her great nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years Jewel Williams, 2 sisters Patricia "Trish" Collins and Carolyn Prichard Campbell, many nieces, nephews and cousins, 2 sisters-in-law Cassie Church and Donnie Dugger, 1 brother-in-law Eddie Williams, as well as many good friends and neighbors.

A Service to Celebrate the Life of Edith will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Tuesday July 21, 2026, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Gale Hartley officiating. Graveside Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2026, in the Grindstaff Cemetery (Siam Community) with Pastor Justin Deaton officiating. Music will be provided by Donna Shepherd and Kevin Collins. Minister. Pallbearers- Jeff Hilton, David Shepherd, Kevin Collins, Chase Williams, Dillon Williams, Eddie Williams. Honorary Pallbearers- Brian Pritchard, Family and friends. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday to go to the cemetery.
