Congratulations to Candace Seeley, RN! She was presented a DAISY Foundation Award, recognizing the outstanding effort she makes to provide extraordinary care to her patients every day. The DAISY Awards at Baxter Health are proudly sponsored by FNBC!

“I would like to nominate Candace Seeley, RN, for the DAISY Award because of the dedication and passion she brings to patient care every day. Candace is a strong advocate for her patients and works hard to make sure they have the support and resources they need to be successful after discharge.

As a part of our unit’s social work team, I have seen firsthand how often Candace comes to me with concerns, ideas, and recommendations that could benefit her patients. She looks beyond their immediate needs during hospitalization, always thinking about what comes next and how she can help ensure they feel supported and have the best possible plan in place when they leave our care. Whether it is identifying barriers, requesting services, or making sure patients have what they need for a safe discharge, Candace consistently goes the extra mile.

What stands out most is that her advocacy comes from a place of genuine care. She wants the best outcomes for her patients and is willing to speak up on their behalf. Patients may never know all of the conversations happening behind the scenes, but many of those happen because Candace is looking out for them.

Candace’s commitment to her patients, her willingness to collaborate with others, and her determination to help patients succeed beyond their hospital stay make her truly deserving of this recognition.”

Please join us in celebrating our September Stroke Award recipients! These caregivers moved with speed, skill, and focus when it mattered most, giving their patients the best chance of recovery.

Silver Award: Blair Brozynski, RN, EMT-P, with a time of 44 minutes

Bronze Award: Maelee Sasser, BSN, RN, with a time of 50 minutes

“I have had a bad right ankle (arthritis, bone spurs and bone-on-bone joints) with a painful limp for several years. I was told my only surgical options were to fuse the ankle or replace it, and I didn’t like either of those options. I tried everything: cortisone shots, ankle braces, support shoes, gels and oils. Nothing really helped.

Then I heard Dr. Knox was offering Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment. I discussed it with my doctor, and he recommended I give it a try. So I did.

They drew my blood and spun it in a centrifuge. Then Dr. Knox used ultrasound to find the inflamed areas and injected it back into my ankle. It was a little uncomfortable, but not painful. Even when he finished, I was able to walk a little better. The next morning, the difference was amazing.

All week my ankle got better. To me, this is a miracle. I can walk normally with very little discomfort and no limp. I’m sorry now that I gave away my treadmill! I can’t thank Dr. Knox enough.”
