Yoga Vidya

Yoga Vidya I am a Certified Iyengar Yoga teacher. I teach to spread the love/deepen my own practice ❤️ During this time, I continued by practice on and off.

My first introduction to yoga was in 1998 as a teenager in my home town Kochi, in India, and it was love at first sight for me. I practiced intensely for more than three years and gave demos in various places with my guru in India. After I graduated from college and relocated for work, life and its affairs caught on. I renewed by love affair with Yoga after the birth of my second child – this time

, it was Iyengar yoga and it was motivated by a lingering back pain caused by a constant sitting job. Iyengar yoga helped me rehabilitate my back and my deepening practice gave me a glimpse of the mind-body connection, which continues to inspire me to explore its infinite possibilities. Now, I literally soak in back bends as they leave me feeling energized and empowered. I started teaching to share my learning as I strongly believe that it spreads the love and deepens my own practice and learning. Every “body” is unique. I strive to make yoga accessible to all my students irrespective of age, body type and flexibility. While teaching, I seek to support and encourage each student to work hard to establish and deepen their understanding of their own body. I believe from my experience that this deep, consistent practice brings a mind-body communion leading to tranquility and peace on and off the mat. Personally, I enjoy reading kids fiction stories and spiritual autobiographies. I enjoy singing and listening to Indian semi-classical music. I love the beach and going on short hikes.

Hi all, I am sharing this on behalf of a peer Yoga Instructor, Simona Afridi who is also a very good friend of mine. I can vouch for the quality of the session offered below. And it’s free! So do take advantage of it to see if it works for you. Anyone who has a condition or who is just really interested can sign up. Please see below the short summary of what’s offered 👇

Hi everyone!

I wanted to share something I’m currently offering as part of my Master’s of Science in Integrative Health, grounded in yoga therapy.

In my second year of the program, I’m completing required clinical hours under faculty supervision.

As part of this, I’m offering free 90-minute yoga therapy sessions each month.
There are three sessions available monthly, and anyone 18 years or older is welcome to sign up.

Each session includes:
A short intake form completed ahead of time
Gentle yoga therapy education
Guided movement, breathing, and relaxation or meditation practices
Time for discussion and reflection
A simple home care plan you can continue on your own

All sessions are held under the supervision of a faculty member, with an observing peer who also serves as a consultant.

These sessions can be supportive for individuals living with specific health concerns, as well as for anyone curious about what yoga therapy is and how it differs from a regular yoga class.

For this month, I have 1 session available.
This Sunday 2/8 at 1 pm.
Feel free to reach out to me, Simona Afridi@952-922-1368 to sign up
I’m happy to share more details
