Stories have always been one of the ways we make meaning of the world.
Long before they were written down, they were carried from voice to voice, changing with every generation and person that told them. Each retelling preserved something, transformed something, and revealed something about the people who carried the story forward.
The Reading Room is a monthly online gathering where we practice reading folklore as living tradition rather than fixed text.
Each month we'll read multiple versions of a tale, explore its history and symbolism, and ask not, "What does this story mean?" but, "What possibilities does this story open?"
From there, we carry the conversation into practice through grimoire work, historiola, ritual, creative retellings, and our own reflections.
Because stories don't simply tell us about the past.
They help us discover ourselves.
Everything I have ever learned about myself, I learned through someone else's story.
