National Speech-Language-Hearing month was in May, and we wanted to shine a light on our Speech Therapist for all that she does for Villa Maria and Maria Court, our long-term and assisted living residents, short-term rehab guests and outpatients! Taryn, you have been so amazing and we could not thank you enough!

For those who aren't quite sure what speech therapy focuses on, we wanted to share that Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) in Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) evaluate, diagnose, and treat residents and rehab guests with speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders. Their primary goals are to ensure resident safety, maximize functional independence, and improve the overall quality of life for both short-term rehabilitation patients and long-term care residents. đź’“

It's Nurse's Week, and we could not be more proud to say Thank You to our nurses at Villa Maria and Maria Court. We simply could not provide the excellent care we do with out all of you, and you are so appreciated!

This month, we would like to shine a light on our Occupation Therapy professionals, in celebration of Occupational Therapy Month!

Occupational Therapy (OT), is a healthcare profession that helps people across their lifespan participate in meaningful daily activities—or "occupations"—when hindered by physical, cognitive, or emotional challenges. Through personalized assessments and interventions, therapists modify environments and teach skills to promote independence in self-care, work, school, and leisure. At Villa Maria, our Occupational Therapy team work closely with in-patient skilled nursing guests and outpatients to meet their individualized therapy goals!

Last week, some of our ladies at Maria Court celebrated the anniversary of when it began, on April 25, 1998, with a festive tea party and craft! What a fun day!
