May is Preeclampsia Awareness Month and before it’s over, we want to honor the mamas whose pregnancy story turned scary fast.🥺🙏🏼
The mamas who went from planning birth preferences… to watching blood pressure numbers.
The mamas who had headaches, vision changes, swelling, upper belly pain, shortness of breath, or just that deep gut feeling that something wasn’t right.
The mamas who had to advocate for themselves while also trying to protect their babies.
Preeclampsia is a serious pregnancy-related blood pressure condition that can happen after 20 weeks of pregnancy and even postpartum. It can affect first-time moms, moms carrying multiples, moms over 35, moms with a history of high blood pressure, diabetes, kidney disease, autoimmune conditions, or previous preeclampsia — but it can also happen to mamas who did “everything right.”😩
And that’s why we will always say this:
You are not dramatic for listening to your body.💯
As chiropractors, we do not replace your OB, midwife, blood pressure checks, labs, or emergency care. But we do believe deeply in supporting the whole mama — her nervous system, her comfort, her stress load, her body awareness, and her ability to feel safe, heard, and cared for while she walks through pregnancy and postpartum.🫂
Because sometimes healing isn’t just physical.
Sometimes it’s having someone look you in the eyes and say,
“Your body is worth listening to.”🫶🏼
To every mama who has walked through preeclampsia:
We honor your strength.
We honor the fear you carried.
We honor the birth story that may not have gone the way you hoped.
And we honor the way you kept showing up for your baby while your own body was sounding the alarm.
You are seen here. 🙌🏼💞
If you are pregnant or postpartum and experiencing symptoms like a severe headache, vision changes, swelling in the face or hands, upper belly pain, shortness of breath, nausea/vomiting later in pregnancy, or high blood pressure, please contact your medical provider right away..
