Our office will close today (6/11/26) at noon as our team engages in a guided self-care and wellness experience at The Gentle Barn.

Supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault requires deep compassion—and sustaining that care means making space for rest and restoration. This time allows our staff to recharge so we can continue providing the highest level of support to our community.

📞 Our crisis lines remain fully operational:

💚 Mental Health Awareness Month 💚

Let’s talk about trauma bonding.

Trauma bonding is a powerful emotional attachment that can form in unhealthy or abusive relationships. It often develops through cycles of harm and reassurance—where moments of pain are followed by affection, apologies, or promises to change. This cycle can make it incredibly hard to leave, even when you know the relationship is hurting you.

✨ What it can look like:

Feeling deeply attached to someone who also causes you harm
Excusing or minimizing hurtful behavior
Holding onto hope from the “good moments”
Feeling anxious, confused, or dependent in the relationship

✨ Why it happens:
Our brains are wired to seek connection and safety. When kindness is mixed with hurt, it creates an emotional “rollercoaster” that can strengthen attachment instead of breaking it.
✨ If this resonates with you:
You are not weak, and you are not alone. Trauma bonds are real—and they can be broken with support, education, and time.
💛 You deserve consistency, respect, and peace—not cycles of pain.
If you’re struggling, consider reaching out to:

A trusted friend or family member
A therapist or counselor
A support hotline in your area

Healing is possible. You are worthy of healthy love.

💛

💜 Healing After Trauma Matters 💜

Survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence carry strength that often goes unseen. While physical safety is critical, emotional and mental healing are just as important. Trauma can leave lasting impacts—anxiety, depression, fear, and isolation—but healing is possible, and no one has to face it alone.

Taking steps to care for your mental health is not a sign of weakness—it is an act of courage. Whether it’s reaching out for counseling, talking with a trusted advocate, joining a support group, or simply giving yourself permission to rest and process, every step forward matters.

You deserve to feel safe, supported, and whole again. Your story does not end with what happened to you—it continues with how you heal.

If you or someone you know needs support, please reach out:
📞 Domestic Violence (DV): 615-896-2012
📞 Sexual Assault (SA): 615-494-9262

Help is here. Healing is possible. You are not alone. 💜

We are incredibly honored and grateful to Chick-fil-A for selecting the Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Center as a recipient of the True Inspiration Award.

This generous investment is more than funding—it is hope, safety, and healing for survivors in our community. Because of Chick-fil-A’s support, we will be able to expand critical services, reach more individuals in crisis, and continue empowering survivors on their journey toward safety and independence. The impact of this award will be felt in counseling sessions, advocacy efforts, prevention programs, and every life touched by our mission.

We are also deeply appreciative of the opportunity to participate in the Impact Accelerator Conference. Connecting with other organizations, sharing ideas, and learning from leaders across the country was an inspiring experience that will strengthen our work for years to come.

Thank you, Chick-fil-A, for believing in our mission and for investing in stronger, safer communities. Together, we are making a lasting difference.

Today, we honor all mothers—especially those who carry both strength and scars.

To the mothers who are survivors of domestic and sexual violence—
your courage, your resilience, and your love are nothing short of extraordinary.
You have faced what no one should ever endure, and yet you continue to show up, to nurture, to protect, and to rebuild.

Motherhood does not require perfection—it reflects strength, healing, and unwavering love. And you embody all of that.

On this Mother’s Day, we see you. We celebrate you. We stand with you.

💐 Happy Mother’s Day to every survivor who is also a mother—you are powerful, worthy, and deeply valued. 💐

During Nurses Week (May 6–12), we honor all nurses—but today, we want to shine a special light on Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs). 💙

SANEs provide compassionate, trauma-informed care to individuals during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. They combine clinical expertise with empathy, ensuring survivors are supported, heard, and treated with dignity—while also carefully collecting critical forensic evidence when patients choose that path.

Their work is quiet, powerful, and often unseen—but it changes lives.

To every SANE who shows up with strength, kindness, and unwavering dedication: thank you for being a source of safety, healing, and hope.

💚 Mental Health Awareness Month 💚

Our community stands with survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. Healing from trauma is not something anyone should have to face alone. Counseling offers a safe, confidential space to be heard, supported, and empowered.

Local support is available through the Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Center, providing compassionate services and resources for survivors and their families.

This month—and every month—let’s continue to normalize mental health care, uplift survivors, and remind one another that help and healing are within reach.

💜 We are beyond grateful for our AMAZING sponsors! 💜

Because of your generosity and belief in our mission, our agency raised $23,530.40 to fund vital supportive services for survivors of sexual assault.

Your support does more than raise funds—it helps survivors access safety, healing, advocacy, and hope. When our community shows up like this, survivors are reminded they are not alone and that their voices matter.
