An important update for our EWCH Pharmacy patients and community:

The retail side of Erlanger Western Carolina Hospital Pharmacy (“Murphy Pharmacy”) will close effective September 25, 2026.

We know this pharmacy has been more than a place to pick up a prescription. For many of our patients, our pharmacy team has been a familiar face and a trusted part of their care.

We’re grateful for every patient who has trusted us over the years, and we’ll be here to help make the transition as smooth as possible. Our staff can assist with transferring prescriptions to the local pharmacy of your choice.

For assistance, please call 828-837-7509.

Inpatient pharmacy services will continue without disruption.

More than 130 years ago, Erlanger was founded through an extraordinary gift that reflected a belief in our community and its potential, and today we are making another investment in our future. Today, from that position of strength, we are announcing that Erlanger has signed a non-binding Letter of Intent to enter into a strategic partnership with Prisma Health, one of the Southeast's leading nonprofit health systems.

This partnership brings $2 billion in investment to Erlanger, allowing us to fast track our strategic plan and strengthen the care for patients in ways this Chattanooga region has never seen. This enables us to address critical facilities needs, expand services and technology needed for patients and accelerate Erlanger’s strategic growth strategy much more rapidly than we could ever do alone.

This decision follows a thoughtful, extensive evaluation led by our Board of Directors. We chose this path, and we chose this partner, because Prisma Health shares our commitment to community-focused, regionally led care. Erlanger will keep its name, its local leadership and its deep roots in Chattanooga.

Nothing changes today for patients, employees or physicians. Together, we will advance healthcare in the Chattanooga region like never before.

Erlanger FitPlus is hosting FREE classes for Arthritis / Fall Prevention for all ages and fitness levels.

August 3 - September 28 l Monday Afternoons l 3:00-4:00pm
• This class for Arthritis/Fall Prevention is slow, easy on joints and equivalent to moderate walking.
• Learn warm-up, cool down and twelve movements.
• Eight one-hour sessions that build on each other. Attend all eight sessions!
• Taught by Tai Chi for Health certified instructors.
• Evidence-based to prevent falls, reduce arthritis symptoms, improve breathing and manage stress.

When Justin Sutton arrived at Erlanger Western Carolina Hospital, he was facing a heart attack, kidney failure, and severe breathing difficulties.

The determination of his care team, including a nurse who remained at his bedside through one of his most critical moments, helped change the course of his recovery.
