What does it mean to be justified by faith? How was Abraham saved? Is salvation based on works, or has it always been by grace through faith?

Romans 4 answers some of the most important questions in all of Scripture and points us to the righteousness that comes through faith in Christ alone.

Addiction, idolatry, and sin all promise freedom…but they only leave us in deeper bo***ge.

Real freedom isn't found in getting more of what we want. It's found when our hearts stop worshiping created things and return to the Creator.

When God is back in His rightful place, everything else begins to fall into its proper place.

Lesson 3 of the Pilgrims Path curriculum confronts one of the deepest realities behind addiction:

Addiction is not just bo***ge. It is worship directed at the wrong thing.

Every person worships something. The question is not IF we worship…it’s WHAT we worship.

Addiction often becomes a false god promising:
• comfort
• escape
• peace
• control
• relief

But idols always overpromise and underdeliver.

What begins as relief slowly becomes slavery.

In Lesson 3, participants learn:
• The biblical meaning of idolatry
• How addiction functions like worship
• Why idols reshape our thinking
• How lies create strongholds in the mind
• How Scripture helps take thoughts captive
• Why true freedom requires worshiping Christ instead of created things

“Little children, keep yourselves from idols.” — 1 John 5:21

This lesson helps participants honestly ask: What have I been running to instead of God?

Because recovery is not simply learning to say no to substances. It is learning to say yes to Christ.

The goal is not merely sobriety. The goal is a heart that worships rightly.

🧭 QUESTION FOR YOU:

What is something people commonly turn into an idol today… even if they would never call it one?

Lesson 3 of the Pilgrims Path curriculum confronts a hard truth many people never consider:

Addiction is not just a bad habit.
At its root, addiction is worship misplaced.

We sacrifice time, money, peace, relationships, health, and sometimes even our own families at the altar of whatever we believe will save us, comfort us, numb us, or satisfy us apart from God.

Drop your answer below. Sometimes exposing an idol is the first step toward tearing it down.

Last night we finished Romans chapter 3 in our Sunday night Bible study.

Romans 3 reminds us of a truth that is both humbling and freeing: every one of us has sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. No amount of good works, religion, or self-improvement can make us right with God. Our only hope is found in Jesus Christ.

The good news of the gospel is that while we could never earn righteousness, God provides it through faith in Christ. Salvation is not something we achieve…it is something we receive by grace.

These truths are especially important in a world that constantly tells us to trust ourselves, fix ourselves, and save ourselves. Romans points us to a better answer: Christ alone.

Join us next Sunday at 6PM as we begin Romans chapter 4.

Everyone is welcome. Bring your Bible and come study God's Word with us.

Lesson 2 of the Pilgrims Path curriculum focuses on something many people never stop to consider:

Your life follows what you believe.

Addiction is not only fueled by substances; it is often fueled by lies:
“I need this to cope.”
“I can’t change.”
“My past defines me.”
“One more time won’t matter.”
“Pleasure now is better than obedience later.”

But Scripture teaches that freedom begins when the mind is renewed by truth.

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind…”
— Romans 12:2

In Lesson 2, participants learn:
• How beliefs shape behavior
• Why worldview matters in recovery
• How false beliefs keep people in bo***ge
• Why God’s Word must become our standard
• How truth renews the mind and reshapes life

A pilgrim cannot walk safely while believing lies.

This lesson challenges participants to stop taking direction from the flesh, emotions, old voices, and destructive patterns; and instead learn to walk according to the truth of God’s Word.

Recovery is not just behavior modification. It is learning to think rightly, worship rightly, and walk faithfully toward Christ.

🧭 QUESTION FOR YOU:

What is one lie that addiction, sin, or the world told you… that Scripture later exposed as false?

Lesson 2 of the Pilgrims Path curriculum focuses on beliefs, truth, worldview, and the renewing of the mind through God’s Word. A man’s addiction is not just tied to actions; it is tied to what he believes about God, himself, sin, comfort, and truth.

The enemy loves lies because chains are easier to keep on blind men. But Jesus said:

“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” — John 8:32

Drop your answer below if you’re comfortable. Your honesty may encourage someone else who’s fighting the same battle.
