In Loving Memory of Barbara Maria Tretina

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Maria Tretina, who passed away on August 5, 2026, at the age of 89.

Born February 3, 1937, in Breslau, Silesia, Barbara lived a life defined by unwavering faith and extraordinary creativity. She immigrated to Canada with her husband, Josef Antony Tretina, and their two daughters in 1976, settling in Ontario. In 1978, after the family immigrated to the United States, Barbara dedicated her life to Jehovah God and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Her faith remained the foundation of her life for nearly five decades.

The family first settled in Trenton, New Jersey, before moving to Ridgeway, Pennsylvania. They later made their home in Buchanan, Tennessee, where Barbara and her husband established a homestead on land they lovingly developed together. There, she embraced a simple, hardworking life centered on her faith, the homestead, and the beauty of God's creation.

For a few years, Barbara was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Paris, Tennessee. She later became a cherished member of the Murray, Kentucky congregation, where she faithfully worshipped for nearly four decades. Her steadfast faith and dedication to her beliefs were evident to all who knew her.

Barbara possessed remarkable artistic gifts. An accomplished crocheter, knitter, and seamstress, she created breathtaking works that reflected both patience and extraordinary skill. Her intricate crocheted doilies and decorative wall hangings became treasured keepsakes for family and friends. She was also a talented artist who especially enjoyed creating beautiful drawings with colored pencils.

Barbara found great joy in cooking and baking. She had a special gift for creating delicious meals and treats, using the fruits, vegetables, and other foods grown on the family's organic homestead.

Above all, Barbara will be remembered for her deep devotion to Jehovah, her remarkable artistic talents, and the dedication with which she lived according to her beliefs. Her legacy lives on through the beautiful things she created, the faith she shared, and the many lives she touched over the years.

Barbara is survived by Dagmar Deischl, Dana Tretina and Tina Tretina and was preceded in death by her mother, Maria Jendrysik and father, Alfred Jendrysik of Germany.

A memorial service celebrating Barbara's life will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Murray, Kentucky, on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. All who knew and loved her are warmly invited to attend as family and friends gather to remember her life and to find comfort in the Bible's promise of the resurrection.
