Help keep your child's reading skills sharp this summer! In an average summer, kids can lose about 20% of the progress they've made in reading. Here are some tips from the AAP on how you can support your child's reading over the summer & keep it fun:
π Get kids their own public library card to help make visiting and exploring the library more fun
π Pair books with summer travel plans. Find stories that feature trip destinations or add a kid-friendly travel guide or scavenger hunt.
π Create a fun reading nook at home
π Connect reading to summer adventures. Pair reading with trips to the zoo, planetarium, or outdoor settings like camping and lakes.
π Read out loud to each other
π Encourage kids to trade books with friends
