Pain that shoots down your leg can come from several different causes, including irritation of the sciatic nerve, a lumbar disc issue, spinal stenosis, piriformis syndrome, or other conditions.

That's why doing random stretches you found online can sometimes help... but other times make your pain worse.

At Perpetual Motion Physical Therapy, we first identify why your sciatic nerve is being irritated. Then we build a treatment plan that may include:
• Exercises to reduce nerve irritation
• Strengthening to improve spinal support
• Manual therapy when appropriate
• Education on movement and lifting mechanics
• AlterG® Anti-Gravity Treadmill to help you walk and exercise with less pain while you recover
• StemWave® shockwave therapy, when appropriate, to help stimulate your body's natural healing response, improve blood flow, and reduce pain in irritated muscles and soft tissues that may be contributing to your symptoms.

There's no one-size-fits-all treatment for sciatica. The best results come from finding the source of your pain—not just chasing the symptoms.

📍Serving Temecula & Murrieta. If pain, numbness, or tingling is traveling down your leg, let us help you get to the root of it.

Sciatica isn't actually a diagnosis—it's actually a symptom. It's a common misconception that the term sciatica is the injury. When people say sciatica, they usually use it to describe a shooting pain in their back that travels down one or both of their legs.

However, pain that shoots down your leg can come from several different causes, including irritation of the sciatic nerve, a lumbar disc issue with a pinched nerve, spinal stenosis, piriformis syndrome, or other conditions.

That's why doing random stretches you found online can sometimes help... but other times make your pain worse.

At Perpetual Motion Physical Therapy, we first identify why your sciatic nerve is being irritated. Then we build a treatment plan that may include:

🚨 The biggest myth about plantar fasciitis...

Myth: "I just need to rest until it until my foot stops hurting."

If you've been rolling your foot with a frozen water bottle and resting it, hoping it will cure everything, this is for you....

While reducing activities that flare your pain can help temporarily, complete rest alone usually isn't the answer. In fact, it's usually a sign that you need to build capacity in your tissues, and help heal the root cause.

Research supports exercise-based treatment—especially progressive loading programs for the calf, ankle, and lower body—for many people with plantar fasciitis. The goal is to improve the tissue's ability to tolerate everyday walking, standing, and exercise—not simply avoid using it. The goal is to make the muscles around the foot carry their fair share of the load instead of your poor feet doing all the work.

That's why so many people spend months icing, resting, and stretching... yet their heel pain keeps coming back.

At Perpetual Motion Physical Therapy, we take a comprehensive approach to your recovery. Your treatment plan may include:

âś… A personalized strengthening and loading program
✅ AlterG® Anti-Gravity Treadmill to reduce weight-bearing while helping you return to walking with less pain and progressively increase loading as you heal
✅ StemWave® shockwave therapy, which may help stimulate the body's natural healing response and can be an effective option for some cases of chronic plantar fasciitis

Rather than just treating the painful spot, we evaluate your ankle mobility, calf strength, foot muscle function, walking mechanics, and activity level to identify what's keeping your heel pain around.

📍Serving Temecula, Murrieta, and the surrounding communities. If those first steps in the morning make you cringe, we're here to help you get back to doing what you love.

Shoulder pain isn't always caused by "tight muscles."

One of the biggest mistakes we see is people stretching an already irritated shoulder over and over, hoping it will finally loosen up.

The problem? Many shoulder injuries—like rotator cuff irritation, impingement, bursitis, tendon injuries, or even frozen shoulder—aren't caused by muscles that are simply "too tight."

They often involve:
âś… Weak or poorly coordinated rotator cuff muscles
âś… Limited movement in the shoulder blade
âś… Poor posture from hours at a desk
✅ Tendons that need the right amount of loading—not endless stretching

That's why treating the cause is so much more effective than chasing the symptoms.

At our Temecula and Murrieta physical therapy clinic, we perform a thorough evaluation to find out why your shoulder hurts, then build a treatment plan specific to you.
We also use state of art technology like our Shockwave and Stemwave treatments to treat inflammation and tendon irritation at the root cause and reduce recovery times and optimize your performance.

We may also:
✔️ Hands-on manual therapy
✔️ Personalized strengthening exercises
✔️ Mobility training
✔️ StemWave shockwave therapy

Don't let shoulder pain keep you from sleeping, working, lifting, or enjoying life.

If you're constantly rubbing your neck, stretching your shoulders, or getting massages that only provide temporary relief, your upper traps may be overworking because of poor posture, weak mid-back muscles, limited shoulder mobility, or improper movement patterns—not because they're the actual problem.
At PMPT in Temecula & Murrieta, our physical therapists look beyond the painful area to identify the root cause of your neck and shoulder tension. Through personalized exercises, posture training, manual therapy, and movement analysis, we help you break the cycle instead of just chasing symptoms.
For stubborn muscle tightness, StemWave Shockwave Therapy may also help stimulate healing, improve blood flow, and reduce chronic muscle pain so you can move more comfortably.
Stop stretching the symptom—start treating the cause.

Many people are told their back pain is caused by a bulging disc, arthritis, or "degeneration" seen on an MRI.

The reality is more complicated.

Research has shown that many people with disc bulges, arthritis, and other age-related changes may have pain or may have little to no pain at all. Imaging findings don't always predict how much pain someone experiences.

Factors that can relate to your pain: hip mobility, core strength, overall conditioning, movement habits, sleep quality, stress, and chronic inflammation can all influence low back pain and how long it sticks around.

That's why we don't just look at the MRI—we look at the whole person.

You may have been told you need injections or surgery. You may be hesitant to go that route. and We want you to know there are alternative options with really good results, like our Shockwave/Stemwave therapy.
For patients dealing with chronic and stubborn back pain, Shockwave Therapy (StemWave) can be a powerful non-invasive treatment option. By stimulating blood flow, cellular activity, and the body's natural healing response, StemWave may help reduce pain and improve function without injections or surgery.

Your MRI is only part of the story.
