Your heart works for you every minute of every day. But sometimes it gives subtle signals that something may not be right. Here are five symptoms you should never ignore:

• Chest discomfort or pressure
• Shortness of breath
• Unusual fatigue
• Heart palpitations or irregular heartbeat
• Swelling in legs or ankles

These symptoms do not always mean heart disease, but they are worth discussing with a cardiologist. The earlier heart issues are detected, the easier they are to treat and manage.
