The Healing Village

The Healing Village A mental health counseling practice committed to a safe and healing process from the moment you reach out for help. Call or text 231-335-3116 to get started!

Why The Healing Village Was Created

The Healing Village was founded with the intention of reimagining how mental health care is experienced—both for clients and for the professionals who serve them. For clients, the practice was designed to remove common barriers to care by offering a welcoming and supportive onboarding experience. This includes the ability to call or text the office, access to f

riendly and responsive front-office staff, clear and accessible communication, and an environment that is safe, inclusive, and respectful of individuals of all ages and backgrounds. The goal is for clients to feel supported and cared for from their very first point of contact, not just once therapy begins. For clinicians and staff, The Healing Village was created to be a place of professional support, collaboration, and growth. This includes weekly one-on-one check-ins focused on clinician well-being, biweekly meetings for continued learning and development, and a practice structure that encourages clinicians to pursue their passions and areas of specialization. The belief is that when clinicians feel supported, valued, and connected, they are better able to provide high-quality care to the community. The Healing Village was built on the belief that meaningful and sustainable mental health care requires collaboration. Each person brings unique strengths, and together we can create something stronger than any one individual could alone.

“It takes a village.”

Today, we honor Juneteenth. This is a day that commemorates freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of equity.

At the Healing Village, we recognize that our well-being is deeply connected to our experiences, our communities, and the systems that shape our lives.

While Juneteenth celebrates a pivotal moment in history, it also encourages us to reflect on the work that remains in creating spaces where everyone feels seen, valued, and supported.

For many, this today may bring feelings of pride, joy, hope, grief, frustration, or a combination of emotions. All of these experiences and emotions are valid.

We believe that healing happens through connection, understanding, and a commitment to learning from one another. Today, we celebrate the strength and contributions of the Black community and reaffirm our dedication to fostering a more compassionate and inclusive world.

Happy Juneteenth. ❤️🖤💚

A reminder that sometimes a shift in language is all you need.

Instead of diminishing your worth, thank those around you. This promotes self worth rather than self shame and it allows us to appreciate the good things in life 💚

If you grew up feeling like your needs were too much, apologizing for having them probably became automatic.

"I'm sorry I got so emotional." "I'm sorry I need so much reassurance." "I'm sorry for being a burden." Most people don't even realize they're doing it. It just feels like the polite thing to say.

But apologizing for your needs teaches the people around you that those needs are a problem. Gratitude does something completely different. It acknowledges what someone gave you instead of shaming yourself for needing it.

"Thank you for holding space for me" lands in a completely different place than "sorry I got so emotional." Same moment. Totally different message.

💚 Here at The Healing Village, we believe that healing was never meant to happen alone.
Building your village takes time and intention. It means reaching out for help, showing up for others, and creating meaningful relationships built on trust and care. A strong village reminds us that we have people around us to lean on when life feels heavy.
Here are some ways to help build the village around you. Remember, healing often begins with a simple conversation, a helping hand, or a person who truly listens.
This week, we encourage you to think about the people in your village. Who supports you? Who can you reach out to when you need help? How can you strengthen existing connections or build new ones within your community?
A village can make all the difference. That's why we strive to be part of the support system in our community: to help to build a stronger, more connected village for everyone. 💚
