Margaret Laverne Curtis, 84, of Yukon, Oklahoma, passed away on October 6, 2026. She was born on October 20, 1941, in Holdenville, Oklahoma, to Vernon Patterson Love and Nadine Hall.
Margaret spent her early childhood in Holdenville before moving to Oklahoma City as a teenager.
At age 16, while working at a small diner in Oklahoma City, Margaret met the love of her life, Ira Jan Curtis, in 1957. Together, they built a beautiful life centered on faith, family, and softball.
Some of her greatest joys came from traveling across the United States with her three daughters as they competed in high-level softball tournaments. Softball was more than a pastime for their family—it was a way of life. Margaret devoted countless hours to practices, games, tournaments, and long road trips, doing whatever it took to support her daughters as they pursued their love of softball. She was a constant presence in the stands and on the sidelines, proudly cheering them on through every hard-fought game and competitive season. There was nowhere she would rather be than supporting her girls. Her love of sports continued through watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren compete. She also enjoyed OU football, bowling, crossword puzzles, cooking, and attending church. Known for her strength and loving spirit, she always put her family’s needs before her own. As a founding member of Hope Connection Church in the early 1990s, Margaret cherished her faith, which remained an important part of her life.
Margaret dedicated 34 years to Lucent Technologies as a production technician specialist, mastering the demanding trade of frame wiring and later passing that skill along to her daughter. One of her proudest personal achievements was earning her GED in her 50s, a reflection of her lifelong determination.
Margaret is survived by her three daughters, Janice Keener (Anthony, partner), Donni Coffelt (Terry, spouse), and Karen Johnson (Tracy, spouse); her brother, Alvin Love; and her nine grandchildren: Nick Keener, Brandi Duffel (Wesley, spouse), Cody Keener (Brandie, spouse), Brent Coffelt (Megan, spouse), Clayton Wood, Chace Keener (Jessie, partner), Chaz Wood, Blair Eldredge (Dusty, spouse), and Korbi Laferr (Karsten, spouse). She also leaves behind 13 beloved
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon Patterson Love and Nadine Hall; her beloved husband, Ira Jan Curtis; her siblings, Glennie, Geraldine, Wanda, Gayle, and Ronnie; and her son-in-law, Roy Keener.
Margaret’s greatest legacy was the love she poured into her family, a love that will continue for generations to come.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 12, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Hope Connection Church, followed by graveside services at Resthaven Memory Garden.
