Unlike refined table sugar, raw honey is a natural food that contains small amounts of antioxidants, enzymes (though some are reduced by heat), trace minerals, and plant compounds. Honey is made up primarily of the simple sugars fructose and glucose, which donβt require the body to split sucrose apart before absorption, as table sugar does. That doesnβt make honey βfreeβ of its effects on blood sugar, but many people find it to be a more natural alternative when used in moderation.
The real goal isnβt adding more sweetness, itβs choosing foods that are closer to the way nature made them. Small changes, practiced consistently, can make a meaningful difference over time.
