Women in perimenopause… listen up

Skipping your warm-up and heading straight for the heavy weights!

We hear “lift heavy” everywhere. And yes, I want you building strength! But give your body a chance to get ready.

With the hormone changes of perimenopause and menopause, aches and stiffness can become more noticeable. You should ALWAYS warm up!!

A good warm-up helps:

* Get blood flowing and warm your muscles.
* Move your joints through a comfortable range.
* Prepare the muscles that support and stabilize your joints.
* Practice your form before adding heavier weight.

It doesn’t need to be complicated! Start with a few minutes of walking or cycling, some controlled movements for the areas you’re training, and lighter sets before your working weight.

Your warm-up is PART of your workout—not the optional part you skip because you’re in a hurry. 😉

And pain that persists or gets worse needs attention, not just a longer warm-up.

Be honest… are you warming up, or counting the walk from the parking lot as enough warm up !??

I want you to know I know the struggle ! I have walked the walk, had the hard times , the disappointments & setbacks !!

The one thing I have never done though is give up !
I’m in a season of rebuild and I’d love to take you along with me !!!

The IMPORTANT basics on WHY you need to get adequate protien in your diet in Perimenopause….

(and by adequate I mean 1-1.2 grams of protein per kg of body weight to maintain. )

Without enough protein your body CAN NOT make enough Hormones. So you want to make your weight gain, hot flashes and mood swing worse?? Don’t eat enough protein

Being deficient in protein will also stimulates a stress response which drives the body toward fat storage, increasing both body fat and fatty liver.

Protein interacts with the hormones to maintain a healthy blood sugar level plus it helps keep you fuller longer.

Ladies, the point of this story is…. We already have to deal with fulctuating hormones, lets help ourselves not have such severe symptoms by eating a macrodense diet !!!

Enjoy the damn 🌮!!!

Today I don’t want you stressing or feeling guilty because you want to go out with friends and have a taco or 2!

GO !! ENJOY!!

You work hard !!

You can even have the margarita… just know how they affect you and the sugar content !!

Drink lots of water today !!
Stick to 1 margarita
Order a couple tacos and know you’re not going to ruin all your hard work with 1 meal !!!

Have you heard “Lift heavier weights” or “eat more protein” and “little punk weights don’t count” ENOUGH 🤦🏼‍♀️

As a Certified personal trainer, nutrition, corrective exercise coach who is Also a Certified Menopause specialist I am tired of it!

That’s all you hear anymore ! Along with peptides & Glp-1’s… with not a lot of backing behind it !!

Where to start if you’ve never lifted !
What if you’re injured !
I’ve had a knee replacement and a revision along with 2 other surgeries … a broken back … what about that ?

I want to hear from you ladies !!!
