Thank you, Ed Piotrowski WPDE, for sharing this update and for trusting OrthoSC with your care and recovery. It’s great to see the progress you’ve made just four weeks after surgery.
We’re especially proud to see our Occupational Therapy team recognized for the role they’ve played in your recovery. Sonya, Liz and Kathy bring an incredible level of care and dedication to their patients every day, and we’re grateful to have them on our team.
Wishing you continued progress and a smooth recovery ahead!
Many of you have asked how my hand is doing, so here’s an update!
I’m now four weeks post-surgery, and it’s healing extremely well. In fact, I haven’t had any pain for weeks. Of course, no pain doesn’t mean it’s 100% healed. Broken bones take time, so I’m still being careful and following the rules which include wearing the splint when moving around and sleeping.
Luckily, I’ve been in great hands (no pun intended) with the Occupational Therapy team at OrthoSC These three rockstars, from left to right, are Sonya, Liz and Kathy.
Liz, in particular, has been amazing. She’s been gradually working with me to get my hand back to normal while also taking great care of the incision area to minimize scarring. I couldn’t be happier with what she’s done for me.
And maybe just as important, they play GREAT music during therapy! I actually look forward to my visits with these ladies. Thank you for taking such great care of me!
For those who don’t know how I broke it, it happened the Friday night before Mom passed away. It was an incredibly difficult and emotional time. Mom’s health was failing, Dad wasn’t doing well, and in a moment of frustration and emotion, I punched a wall.
Unfortunately, I didn’t hit drywall. I found the stud.
The stud won.
The result was a clean break of the fifth metacarpal in my hand and, ultimately, surgery. Definitely not one of my better decisions. But four weeks later, I’m very grateful to be healing so well and especially grateful for the people helping me get back to 100%.
