This is such a great illustration about perspective and how things are not exactly as we see it in the moment.

Perspective-taking is one of those skills that sounds simple...until you realize how hard it is for kids to actually do.
I love using quick visual activities like this because they make a big idea click almost instantly. Everyone looking at the cake is telling the truth—they're just seeing it from a different angle. That simple conversation opens the door to talking about empathy, disagreements, misunderstandings, and why two people can experience the same situation differently.
It's such an easy way to start meaningful classroom discussions without needing a long lesson.
This activity is one of the 224 daily prompts inside my Feelings Check-In SEL Journal, where students practice empathy, perspective-taking, emotional awareness, problem solving, and relationship skills in just 10–15 minutes a day.
If you're looking for meaningful morning meeting activities that help build a kinder, more understanding classroom community, this journal was made for that.
