Meet Piper! 🐾

Whether she’s carrying her favorite stuffed duck or enjoying a walk, Piper is always happy to make new friends. As part of our Paws for Healing program, she shares comfort, companionship and plenty of tail wags with patients, families and team members throughout Outer Banks Health.

Our certified therapy dogs are available to visit patients and families upon request. To request a visit, simply let your nurse know.

Congratulations to the winners of our Spring 2026 Stride & Thrive Step Challenge, and a big thank you to all 106 team members who participated! 🎉

Throughout the challenge, our team logged more than 19.4 million steps, reinforcing our commitment to health and well-being. Whether participants were aiming for the leaderboard or simply making time for more movement each day, every step contributed to the success of the challenge.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make Stride & Thrive a great success. We look forward to stepping up the challenge again soon!

Healing happens in many forms, including through creativity and connection.

This needle felting workshop, hosted by Dare Arts at the Cowell Cancer Center, gave cancer survivors, patients and caregivers the opportunity to learn a new skill in a supportive environment.

We're proud to support programs like this through our Community Benefit Grant Program. Since 2022, Outer Banks Health has partnered with Dare Arts to help make these meaningful experiences possible, and we're honored to continue that partnership for a fifth year.

So that our team members may observe the Juneteenth holiday with family and friends, several Outer Banks Health outpatient services, including x-ray, lab, and medical records, as well as our Outer Banks medical practices, will be closed on Friday, June 19.

Both of our Urgent Care locations, Nags Head and Kitty Hawk, will be open normally from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Emergency Department is open 24/7, 365 days a year to serve any immediate need.

Earlier this week, Outer Banks Health team members joined our Food & Nutrition Services team to prepare and serve 96 meals alongside Ruthie's Community Kitchen, a local nonprofit.

This meaningful effort reflects our commitment to caring for our community both inside and outside our hospital walls. We are grateful for the opportunity to support our neighbors and make a positive impact through service. Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and talents to help provide a nutritious meal, a warm smile and a caring touch!
