The Studio The Studio, Outer Banks is a mindfulness studio that focuses on educational health and wellness for children of all ages.

We offer Mindfulness programs in our Pre-K, After-School and summer programs as well as evening meditation classes for adults.

Hi! I’m Samantha Lock, Owner of The Studio/Karma Kids, and for more than 30 years, my work and my heart have centered around children. 💜
I wear many hats! I’m a childhood education professional with degrees in English and Child Development, a NC Certified Child Care Administrator, CPD Certified Mindfulness & Meditation Teacher, RYT Certified Yoga Teacher, and American Red Cross Instructor.
I spent 11 years with Dare County Schools as Administrator of the After School Enrichment Program and am the co-author of the Karma Kids Taking Shape Mindfulness Curriculum.
For the past 17 years, I’ve also been the Founder & Executive Director of OBX GO FAR, helping thousands of children and families discover the power of running, healthy living, character, confidence, and community. 🏃‍♀️
At the heart of everything I do is creating spaces where children feel safe, seen, heard, supported, loved, and valued, and giving them the tools to move through the world with kindness, resilience, compassion, and joy.
When I look back at all the hats I’ve worn, there’s one common thread: children.
Pour into children today, and they will pour goodness back into the world tomorrow. 🌎💜

Hi, I’m Olivia Gray! 👋🏼
I grew up on the Outer Banks 🌊 and have spent nearly 18 years working in caregiving, education, and support programs within our local community.
I studied Early Childhood Education at College of The Albemarle and have worked with kids in just about every way, from preschool and after-school programs to summer camps. ✨ Since 2019, I’ve been lucky enough to help lead The Studio’s preschool and school-age programs.
As Program Coordinator, I get to support our teachers, programs, and families while still doing what I love most, hanging out with kids! 💜

Hi, families! My name is Olivia Roughton, but your children will know me as Ms. Livy! I’m so excited to be the Pre-K teacher this year at The Studio! I’ve worked with children for nearly seven years and studied Early Childhood Education at Beaufort County Community College and the University of Mount Olive. I’m originally from Columbia, NC, and I love creating a classroom where children feel safe, loved, confident, and excited to learn.
