Looking for a simple way to help your child feel more confident about going to preschool?

Books are one of our favorite ways to help children feel comfortable and confident about a new transition!

Reading stories about preschool can spark conversations about new routines, friendships, and all the exciting adventures that come with a new school year. Whether your child is feeling nervous, excited, or a little bit of both, these favorites can help make the first day feel a little bit less scary.

We’d love to hear your family’s favorite! What book has helped your child feel ready for school?

One simple language tip for toddlers: instead of asking yes/no questions, try making comments or using open-ended prompts!

Yes/no questions usually only require one word answers. Comments and open-ended questions or prompts give toddlers more opportunities to hear, learn, and use more words.

Remember, yes/no questions absolutely have their place, but if your goal is to support language growth and development, this tip can make a big difference!

📌 SAVE this for future reference and follow along for more practical strategies you can use everyday!

From babbling to saying “mama,” every sound is an important building block for communication.

Speech sounds develop over time and there are simple ways you can support your child’s learning every day:
✔️ Play face-to-face
✔️ Talk about what you’re doing during daily routines
✔️ Respond to your child’s attempts to communicate
✔️ Sing songs

One small change can make a big difference.

Food chaining helps your child expand the foods they accept by making one small change at a time. Instead of expecting your child to jump from crackers to grilled cheese, we build confidence through familiar and gradual steps. There is no “right pace.” Our goal in feeding therapy is to create positive experiences with food while reducing stress around mealtimes.

If your child is struggling with new foods or mealtimes feel overwhelming, we’re here to help. Contact us today to learn more about how feeding therapy can support your child and family!

Many parents think a speech screening and a speech evaluation are the same, but, in fact, they serve different purposes.

A screening is a brief check to see if an additional assessment may be needed.

An evaluation provides detailed information about your child’s communication skills and helps determine whether speech therapy would be beneficial.

If you have concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out! We’re here to help answer your questions and guide you through this process!

Looking for ideas to help your child build attention? Start with play!

Simple toys like bubble machines, stacking rings, pop-up toys, and interactive books encourage your child to practice:
✔️ Focusing on an activity
✔️ Waiting and anticipating
✔️ Taking turns
✔️ Looking and listening

The best part is that many of these opportunities happen naturally during everyday play activities at home!

If you have concerns about your child’s attention, play skills, or language development, our team is here to help!

The words we use during mealtime matter more than we often realize.

As pediatric feeding therapists, one of the biggest shifts we help families make is in changing the conversation around food.

When children feel pressured to eat, they’re often less willing to explore new foods. When we replace pressure with curiosity, patience, and encouragement, we create opportunities for positive experiences that build over time.

Have you ever wondered, “Why is my child chewing on their shirt?”

For some children, chewing, biting, or mouthing objects isn’t just a habit. It’s a way to seek sensory input to help their bodies feel more regulated.

While oral sensory seeking can be a typical part of development for some children, persistent chewing on clothing, toys, pencils, or other non-food items may be a sign that your child could benefit from additional support.

If oral sensory seeking is interfering with eating, safety, learning, or everyday routines, our speech therapists are here to help. We can identify your child’s unique sensory needs and create individualized strategies that support success at home, school, and beyond.
