Our Ambulances typically will run up to 20, 911 dispatched responses per day.

However, You don't notice us too much as most are done without Red lights and sirens. We navigate in and out of the population without unnecessary disruptions your safety and ours.

When you see an Ambulance out and about it may still be on a response and patient transport even if not lit up and making noise.

Red lights and Sirens are only used under certain conditions which are typically related to the dispatch nature vs. the distance of the response, the transport of a patient where our skill and equipment are not able to manage the needs or a very time-dependant condition such as stroke, trauma and etc.

We also use the warning system for scene positioning and safety and are permitted to use the warning systems for backing into the station.

All ambulances must stop completely for Stop Signs and Red Signals and proceed after other traffic Is confirmed to have stop.

The ambulance may not exceed the posted speed limits even when using Red Lights and Sirens.

Capabilities inside the ambulance consist of highly trained EMT, Advanced EMT and Paramedics armed with some highly sophisticated equipment and medications making the transport with lights and sirens almost unnecessary. These units are also called Mobile Intensive Care Units (MICU).

If you see an ambulance making use of Red Lights and Sirens it is likely an immediate life or death situation so please yield and allow those professionals to do their job .
