We are a nonprofit hospital that cares for an island community 30 miles off the coast of Massachusetts. But we’re also so much more than that.

Nantucket Cottage Hospital is a non-profit hospital that serves the residents and visitors of our island community by providing a broad range of health and wellness services. We are your friends, neighbors and family. Our relationships with our patients don’t end after an appointment or discharge. We see our patients at the grocery store, in the schools, at the ballfields, and on the ferries. Our doctors, nurses and medical professionals are part of the island community in so many ways, which makes our sense of responsibility to our patients even greater. Since 1911, Nantucket Cottage Hospital has cared for island residents and visitors with compassion and integrity. Today, more than 100 years since our founding, the hospital is providing more care to more people than ever before by leveraging advanced technology and forging new partnerships. Through our affiliation with Massachusetts General Hospital, we are able to give Nantucket residents and visitors the best of both worlds: the comfort and familiarity of a small, community hospital and the world-class medical resources of one of the finest hospitals in the country. From primary care to specialized medicine and surgery, Nantucket Cottage Hospital is the island’s primary source for health and wellness services. And it is our relationship with and commitment to the island community that drives us to fulfill that role everyday.

Protect yourself, your loved ones and our island community by getting your flu shot this season.

Nantucket Cottage Hospital is offering public flu clinics this fall for adults and pediatric patients in Physician Practices at the hospital, 57 Prospect St., through Friday, Oct. 9. Appointments are required and available by calling 508-825-1000 or by self-scheduling through Patient Gateway.

Upcoming clinic dates include Thursday, Sept. 24; Monday, Oct. 5; and Friday, Oct. 9. Additional flu clinics will open soon.

Community members may also walk in for a flu shot during the Island Health Fair on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 9 am to noon — no appointment necessary.

Visit Healthy Together: Annual Island Health Fair on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m. to noon at Nantucket Cottage Hospital for a free blood pressure check and helpful wellness resources.

Services are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Flu season is around the corner, and Nantucket Cottage Hospital is offering public flu clinics this fall for adults and pediatric patients.

When the need arose for student-athlete sports physicals on Nantucket, the Nantucket Cottage Hospital team moved quickly to help make sure island students could get cleared to play.

After the previous provider of this service was unable to offer it this year, Hillary Reynolds recognized that there would be a significant need for local students and families. In response, the Nantucket Cottage Hospital team pulled together in a short amount of time to stand up a free sports physical session for fall student-athletes.

Thanks to their teamwork and commitment, 65 students registered for fall sports at Nantucket High School had access to the physicals they needed to participate safely in the season.

We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with the Nantucket High School Athletics Department, and to everyone who helped make this happen so quickly for Nantucket’s student-athletes and their families.

What can hospitals learn from delivering care 30 miles at sea? Nantucket Cottage Hospital President Amy Lee recently spoke with ’s Hospital Review about the teamwork, planning and innovation that help our hospital meet the needs of a year-round community and a rapidly growing seasonal population.

From workforce housing and seasonal staffing to care coordination and emergency preparedness, Lee shared lessons that can benefit rural, island and destination hospitals across the country. She also previewed the first Nantucket Summit, bringing hospital leaders together in October to share ideas and strengthen collaboration.
