Happy Founder's Day!!!
On September 18th in 1895, D.D. Palmer performs the first adjustment on Harvey Lillard in Davenport, Iowa.
131 years later the basic principle of chiropractic still rings true today:
The power that made the body, heals the body.
Dr. Jamie foster wrote the following, and I completely agree.
Chiropractic is 131 years old.
And I still think we are only scratching the surface of what chiropractic really means.
D.D. Palmer gave us the principle: remove the interference and allow the intelligence already within the body to express itself.
But over the years, some incredible chiropractors have helped me understand what that principle looks like when you actually LIVE it.
Reggie Gold taught us that dis-ease is a lack of organization and order.
Sid Williams taught us to love, give, serve, and do it because that is simply who we are.
Guy Riekeman reminded us that there is something extraordinary already inside every human being.
And Arno Burnier taught something that has deeply influenced the way I practice: the adjustment is an art.
It isn’t just about moving a bone.
It’s presence.
It’s connection.
It’s intention.
It’s knowing when to adjust, where to adjust, and sometimes when NOT to adjust.
It’s putting your hands on another human being and recognizing that the same intelligence that grew that person from two cells is still there.
THAT is chiropractic to me.
The longer I practice, the more fascinated I become with the human body. The nervous system. Adaptation. Recovery. Breath. Movement. Sleep. Light. Energy. Stress. Environment. All of the things I love exploring through biohacking ultimately keep bringing me back to the same principle:
The body is freaking incredible when we stop interfering with it.
I don’t want people dependent on me.
I want people to understand their bodies.
I want them to realize they aren’t just a collection of symptoms that need to be chased.
I want them to experience what happens when their nervous system can communicate, adapt, organize, and express LIFE at a higher level.
That’s why, after all these years, I still LOVE walking into my office.
I still love putting my hands on people.
I still love seeing that moment when someone realizes their body is capable of more than they thought.
And I still believe chiropractic has barely begun to show the world what is possible.
131 years later, the principle is still the principle.
The power that made the body heals the body.
Our job is to honor it, remove the interference, and let LIFE express.
Happy Founders Day to the profession that changed my life and gave me the opportunity to spend mine helping change the lives of others.
Above. Down. Inside. Out.
Life Turned uP!
