🐾 September is National Service Dog Month! 🐾

For children with autism, a service dog can be so much more than a companion. They can be a source of comfort, safety, independence, and connection. ❤️

Service dogs may support children in meaningful ways, such as:
✨ Helping with safety and awareness
✨ Providing calming support during overwhelming moments
✨ Encouraging independence and confidence
✨ Supporting routines and transitions
✨ Offering companionship and a sense of security

Every child is different, and not every child with autism will benefit from a service dog. But for some families, a specially trained service dog can become an incredibly important part of their child's support system.

This National Service Dog Month, we're celebrating the incredible dogs who help children with disabilities navigate the world with greater confidence, safety, and independence.

Today is Tim Burton's Birthday. Although he has never had an official diagnosis, it is widely understood by himself and many of his loved ones that he exhibits many ASD traits. He has had an extremely successful career sticking to his own unique style and often controversial style. He is also unapologetically quirky, aloof, and misunderstood.

Grammy-award-winning artist Charlie Puth has been very open recently about his own sensory challenges. He has openly discussed living with hyperacusis, a condition causing extreme sensitivity to sound. He has described his sensory experience as hearing noises at 200% intensity. Everyday sounds, which most people process as normal, can cause him physical sickness and severe sensory overload.
