Save this and share it with every parent of a toddler you know.

The most powerful speech therapy tools are not in a therapy bag. They are in your daily routines. These five strategies take no extra time and no special training. Just intention.

Which one of these are you already doing? Tell me below.

Before any technique. Before any goal. Before any measurable progress. There is trust.

For children with complex communication needs, feeling safe with a therapist is the foundation everything else is built on. The sessions that feel quiet are often the ones that matter most.

SLPs, do you count relationship building sessions as progress in your notes? Yes or no below.

Live therapy sessions are not easy to capture on camera. But what happened in this session was too meaningful not to share.

After months of consistent, patient relationship building, this child said hello, engaged in joint attention, and imitated a sound after cueing. And he moved his own chair to the table before we even began.

That last part. He moved his own chair. That is months of trust made visible in one small gesture.

Progress in complex cases rarely arrives the way we expect it. But when it arrives it is unmistakable.

If this resonates with you, share it with a parent who needs to see that progress is possible. 🤍

The therapy sessions are only one part of private practice.

Behind every session are reports, scheduling, parent communication, billing, interviews, continuing education, and countless decisions that help keep families supported.

Most of this work happens quietly, long after the last child has gone home.

It can be a lot, but it is also one of the reasons I value private practice so much. It allows me to build something that reflects the care, quality, and support I want families to receive.

If you own a private practice, drop a 🤍 below. I’d love to know how long you’ve been serving your community.

Save this post if you’ve ever wondered what feeding therapy actually involves beyond getting a child to try a new food.

The SOS Approach to Feeding is one of the most comprehensive, evidence-based frameworks available for children with feeding challenges.

After completing the SOS Approach to Feeding Mentorship Program, I gained a deeper understanding of the sensory, oral motor, developmental, and medical factors that influence feeding. It continues to shape the way I support children and families every day.

What is the most challenging part of mealtimes in your home right now?

If we have not officially met, hi. I am Karin.

I have been a speech language pathologist for 25 years and I started Bear Tracks Pediatric Therapies because I believe every child deserves to be heard, in whatever way they communicate.

I work with children with autism, Down syndrome, apraxia of speech, feeding challenges, and complex communication needs across the Naperville and Aurora area.

If any of this sounds familiar, I would love to connect. Drop a hello in the comments and tell me a little about your child or your work.

Save this if you have ever wondered what feeding therapy actually looks like in a real session.

This child is working through the SOS Approach to Feeding, an evidence based framework that builds a child’s relationship with food one step at a time. No pressure. No force. Just consistent, patient progress at his pace.

Has your child struggled with feeding challenges? What has mealtime looked like for your family? Tell me below.

Mobile therapy is one of those career paths that looks simple from the outside and reveals its full complexity once you are actually living it.

Hot summers. Cold winters. A car full of therapy toys. Unpredictable environments. And the occasional session where a very enthusiastic dog becomes an unexpected co-therapist.

But also this: children who make progress faster because they are in their own space. Families who become genuine partners in the work. And the freedom to build a practice around what you actually believe in clinically.

SLPs, are you in mobile practice, clinic based, or school based? What is one thing you have learned to do differently that made the work feel more sustainable? Tell me below.

Drop a bookmark on this one if you have ever wondered whether your child’s mealtime struggles go beyond typical picky eating.

Picky eating is real. Feeding disorders are also real. And they are not the same thing, even though they can look identical from the outside.

Has your child been evaluated for a feeding disorder or are you still trying to figure out if what you are seeing is typical? Tell me below.

This is one of my favorite things to witness as a speech language pathologist.

A child learning to tell you what he is thinking. Not because he was prompted or drilled but because he finally has the language to do it and the safety to use it.

He is learning to express his thoughts across different situations. He is starting to make simple plans. And his frustration is decreasing session by session because being understood changes everything.

If this moved you, share it with a parent who needs to see that progress is possible.
