Patrick’s Residence offers long-term care and rehab services, providing compassionate physical, emotional, and spiritual support to all residents, fostering a close-knit, welcoming environment that feels like home for residents and their families. Patrick’s Residence Nursing and Rehabilitation is a not-for-profit, 210-bed, long-term care nursing and rehabilitation facility, which is served by the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm who, with their staff, care for the elderly regardless of race, disability, or religious affiliation.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude for the remarkable generosity, passion, and commitment demonstrated this year. Thanks to your support, the Gala Fundraiser surpassed our financial goal of $275,000. Every single dollar raised goes directly toward supporting our mission and expanding our programs and services for those we serve.

Late last week, a federal judge ordered the State of Illinois to temporarily not enforce its assisted-su***de mandate against the St. Patrick's Residence. We are grateful for this important step in protecting our mission to care for every person with love, respect, and dignity.

As a Catholic healthcare ministry, we believe every life is precious. Our mission is to care for those who are sick, elderly, and vulnerable with compassion and dignity—not to help end their lives.

The new Illinois law would have required healthcare providers who object to assisted su***de to provide information about it, help patients qualify for lethal drugs, and refer them to someone who would provide it for them. It also threatened to punish caregivers for speaking openly about the value of life.

This court order allows us to continue our mission and care for those entrusted to us according to our faith while we continue fighting for permanent protection.

We are grateful for this important victory and for all those who are standing with us in defense of life and compassionate care.

At St. Patrick’s Residence, we believe every person who comes through our doors deserves to be treated with dignity and compassion, especially in the final chapter of life. Our mission is to care for our residents and accompany them and their families with the same faith and commitment that have guided Catholic healthcare for generations.
That is why we are joining a lawsuit challenging a new Illinois law that would force Catholic healthcare providers to facilitate assisted su***de, even when doing so directly conflicts with their religious beliefs. Beginning September 12, providers who refuse to comply could face significant fines and penalties.
We want to continue doing what we have always done: providing life-affirming care and reminding our residents that their lives are precious and that they will never be abandoned. We believe families should have the freedom to choose care that respects the dignity of their loved ones and their deeply held beliefs.
We are asking a federal court to protect our freedom to care for our residents according to our Catholic faith. We will continue to stand beside those entrusted to our care, offering comfort and hope through every stage of life.
