As we head into Memorial Day weekend, just a few quick reminders:

- The office will be closed on Monday for the holiday. We are open tomorrow morning for regular Saturday morning clinic.

- Morning Walk-In Clinic is DONE for the school year and will resume in September after Labor Day.

- We still will have plenty of availability for same day visits for sick patients this summer, so please call our office to schedule as needed.

- Summer Physical Season is kicking off. Now is the time to schedule your child’s school/sports physical, either by calling or utilizing our new online scheduling option on the portal. If you don’t see a time on the portal that works for you, please call to schedule.

- School physicals are generally only needed for kids starting kindergarten, 6th grade, and 9th grade. Sports physicals are needed annually for kids participating in school sports beginning in 7th grade.

- School and physical forms can be found on our website. Please fill out the patient portion prior to your visit to help streamline the visit. All forms will be uploaded onto the portal within a few days after the appointment. Please be patient and realize this is a very busy time for all pediatricians across the country.

- If you have additional concerns about your child’s health that falls outside of the scope of a routine physical, please schedule a separate visit or notify our staff so we can schedule extra time for an additional “sick/problem-focused visit” on the same day.

Beginning next Wednesday, May 6th, we will begin offering the ability to schedule Well Child Check-Ups through our Patient Portal. A limited number of appointments for each physician will be available for self-scheduling on the days that they are working to allow for even greater ease of scheduling for families. There are additional available appointment times for each physician, so please call to schedule an appointment if you don’t see a day or time that works for you. Furthermore, if your child needs to have a medication appointment on the same day (i.e. for ADHD, anxiety, asthma), has multiple medical conditions, or there are extra concerns that fall outside the scope of a routine Well Child Visit, please call to schedule rather than use this option as we may need to provide additional time.

At this time, the self-scheduling option is only available for routine Well Child Visits. Once you login to your Patient Portal account, available from a link on our website, follow the steps to choose your child and which “Age” Check-Up they need. You can then choose the physician with whom you’d like to schedule. The system will automatically block you from scheduling a check-up that is “too soon” based on the age of the child and timing of previous check-ups. If you encounter this problem and know that your insurance will allow for a slightly earlier appointment, please call to schedule. It is important for you to know the details of your own insurance plan.

Once an appointment has been scheduled online, it cannot be modified or deleted, so if something comes up after scheduling and a change needs to be made, please call our office to reschedule.

Our staff will review the self-scheduled appointments a day or two beforehand and if there are concerns about the timing or if other issues are noted, we will contact you to adjust the visit in efforts to keep everything running smoothly the day of the appointment. Please be patient with us as we work through the inevitable kinks that will arise as we test this out. As things progress, we hope to be able to add more availability for online scheduling in the future.

Congrats to Dr. Scherer for completing her 13th marathon yesterday at the Illinois Marathon in Champaign-Urbana! She even saw one of our longtime patients at the finish line and got to catch up on college life! We love seeing our patients all grown up and thriving!! ❤️

Celebrating our amazing front staff today! They do so much to keep our office running smoothly and they do it with smiles on their faces. Children’s Health Partners is thrilled to introduce our new office manager, Annie, who has hit the ground running since officially taking over the position last week. Annie comes to us with almost a decade’s worth of experience working with medical practices and over 7 years managing another pediatric practice in the Chicagoland area, so she has a deep wealth of knowledge that we’re truly grateful for. She’s worked closely with our previous manager and longtime CHP nurse, Helen, over the last several weeks to ensure a smooth transition, so you may have already seen her in the office.

Annie lives with her family in the area and is the proud mom of three amazing kids. She is “excited to join CHP because of its longstanding reputation as a leading pediatric practice in the community and its team of brilliant physicians, nurses and staff who strive every day to provide quality medical care and make the patient experience better.” 🥰

Some of our pediatricians got all dressed up last night for the Edward-Elmhurst Hospital Physician Appreciation Dinner in downtown Chicago. Always a fun time to celebrate the many years of service so many physicians have given to our local hospital system!

Children’s Health Partners remains committed to following evidence-based, scientifically-backed recommendations to best protect children, including our own, and our communities.

We will continue to follow the vaccination schedule recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. This is the same as the previous federal/CDC schedule and what we’ve always followed.

Additionally, the Illinois Department of Health continues to support the science and recommends following the former CDC schedule. State vaccine requirements for daycare and school attendance remain unchanged and the insurance industry has assured coverage for all vaccines through the entirety of 2026.
