60 years ago, I was born in Sri Lanka under a Virgo rising moon — a placement that gave me precision, humility, and a devotion to service before I even knew what to call it. In 1966, the Year of the Horse, I inherited a restless, free-spirited energy that would carry me across the world.
In 1968 — a year of profound upheaval — my father made the bold decision to bring our family to New York City, trading the certainty of home for the promise of possibility. That leap of faith became the foundation of everything I've built since.
Today, on September 11, I carry that history with particular weight. This date holds grief for our nation, and it holds my own story of becoming — the day I mark six decades of life given to healing as a surgeon, giving as a philanthropist, and building as an entrepreneur. If the Horse's spirit is forward motion, I hope I've run in service of something larger than myself.
Grateful for the ancestral gifts of Sri Lanka, the adopted spirit of America, and every soul who has let me walk alongside them. Here's to the years ahead. 🐎🌙🇺🇸
