There’s nothing worse than a provider down playing what you’re experiencing.

I speak to a lot of people who tell me someone has told them that it’s all in their head.

That couldn’t be further from the truth, although often times it’s right below their head.

Meaning improper upper cervical spine biomechanics are what’s causing the nervous system dysfunction that’s going on which is leading to major symptoms being experienced.

Fix those biomechanics and achieve a healthy functioning nervous system!

Dysautonomia is debilitating!

That’s what can make the beginning phase of care tricky sometimes.

Since we are making big changes to the system, sometimes people don’t feel the greatest early on.

It takes the body a little bit of time to process everything that’s going on.

But over time we start to see amazing changes and people feel like their original selves.

Have you been diagnosed with Dysautonomia but haven’t been given any sort of steps to help yourself?

That’s something that I hear about all the time from people.

They get a complex diagnosis but aren’t given any steps forward to actually feel better.

This is beyond frustrating and something you shouldn’t have to deal with.

I help people all the time with Dysautonomia and it really comes down to balancing the nervous system with specific adjustments to the upper neck.

Got headaches or migraines?

You need this test done by the device I’m holding here. A large majority of headaches and migraines are caused by neurological problems stemming from the upper neck area.

This tool helps us determine if the nervous system is working correctly or if there’s a disruption in that communication.

It also tells us if an adjustment is needed and if the adjustment actually fixed the problem!

Feeling off balance is not always an inner ear problem.

Your brain keeps you upright by constantly comparing information from your eyes, your inner ear, and the position sensors throughout your body.

A major source of that position information comes from the upper cervical spine.

The muscles and joints around C1 and C2 are packed with receptors that tell your brain where your head is in space. When the biomechanics of that area become distorted, the information reaching the brain may no longer match what the eyes and inner ear are reporting.

That conflict can feel like:

Dizziness.

Unsteadiness.

A floating sensation.

The floor moving beneath you.

Feeling off in crowds, stores, or busy environments.

This is why someone can have normal imaging, a normal ear exam, and still know that something is not right.

The goal of upper cervical care is not to chase the sensation of imbalance. It is to evaluate whether the structure and function of the upper neck are interfering with the communication your balance system depends on.

When the signals become clearer, the brain has a better opportunity to coordinate movement and stability again.

Feeling off balance is a symptom.

The real question is why the signals are no longer matching.

Make sure to pick up the latest paper from Naples Press!

They came to our sourdough class last month and took some photos! Can’t thank them enough for this amazing feature article.

When they told me that they were coming to the event I got a little nervous as it was the hardest thing I had made to date, croissants! Luckily it all went super smooth and I think everyone had a lot of fun.

Our next class is tomorrow night at 6:30, we’ll be making waffles!

Thanks everyone for the support, means a lot!

We have been in Washington for a little summer break action!

It’s been great to unplug a bit and just enjoy time with family. Yesterday we went berry picking which was such a great time…Layla had an absolute blast wandering the fields and eating endless berries 🫐

True or false: Your neck can cause feelings of imbalance?

True.

Most people assume imbalance, dizziness, or feeling “off” must be coming from the inner ear. While that’s certainly possible, it’s not the only source.

Your upper neck contains thousands of specialized receptors that constantly tell your brain where your head is in space. This information is critical for balance, coordination, and spatial awareness.

When the joints and muscles in the upper cervical spine aren’t functioning properly, those signals can become distorted.

The result?

You may feel unsteady.
You may feel disconnected from your surroundings.
You may avoid busy environments, driving, grocery stores, or crowds because they make your symptoms worse.

What’s interesting is that many people experiencing these symptoms also report:
• Neck tension
• Headaches or migraines
• A history of concussion or whiplash
• Vertigo or dizziness
• Motion sickness

The problem isn’t always your ears.

Sometimes it’s the communication between your neck, brainstem, and balance system.

If you’ve been told everything looks normal but you still don’t feel like yourself, it may be time to look somewhere different.

Have you ever experienced feelings of imbalance without a clear explanation?

Your labs are normal.

Your MRI was normal.

Your blood work was normal.

You’ve cleaned up your diet.
You’re taking supplements.
You’re exercising.
You’re drinking more water.
You’re doing all the “right things.”

So why do you still feel off?

Why are you still dealing with headaches, dizziness, brain fog, fatigue, anxiety, poor sleep, or that constant feeling that something just isn’t right?

Because normal tests don’t always measure function.

Most testing is designed to identify disease, damage, or pathology.

But long before disease develops, the body can lose its ability to function properly.

One area that is commonly overlooked is the communication between the brain and the body through the nervous system.

When the upper cervical spine isn’t moving and functioning the way it should, it can create stress within the nervous system and affect how your body adapts, heals, and regulates itself.

The result?

You may not feel sick enough for a diagnosis.

But you don’t feel healthy either.

If you’ve been told everything looks normal but you know something isn’t right, don’t ignore that feeling.

Your body is trying to tell you something.

Sometimes the problem isn’t found in your lab work.

Sometimes it’s found in the systems that control everything else.

Have you ever been told your tests were normal while you still felt terrible?
