The weekend is often given away before it even arrives. To-do lists, plans, and expectations can overwhelm the time we set aside for ourselves. If you step onto your mat this Saturday or Sunday, let it be for you. Let it be the hour where you choose your breath and nurture your body. The rest of the world can wait.

Yoga philosophy names two companions on the path: the energy that moves us toward what matters, and the steadiness that loosens our attachment to outcomes.

Yoga can easily turn into a practice of striving, which shows up in the body before it shows up in the mind. It is important to notice when a pose becomes a test instead of a place to feel. This week in practice we will work with that moment when we notice the push and choose to soften it. When effort is steady and unforced, the the purpose of our practice practice becomes clear.
